Erland von Koch (26 April 1910 - 31 January 2009) was a Swedish composer.

It's heartbreaking that Erland von Koch left us in 2009. It would have been such a pleasure to send him an acknowledgement of our appreciation for this gorgeous composition. Hail and Farewell, Maestro!

While uploads make wonderful works available, a problem is the sea of awesome works. This itself continues the obscurity of works even as some of us keep exploring. I for one keep finding new works to listen to. I do keep a list, but the revisiting of these pieces is reduced by the new finds.

Strange listening to such wonderful symphonies like this and knowing only a small portion of the classical audience have actually heard it. That and it's part of a relatively small group of harmonic works in the 20th century, making it all the more special. Maybe it will gain much more recognition later on this century.

This is what I like about KZfaq. The huge variety of music from unjustly neglected composers. As far as the local classical music stations in southern California are concerned, Sibelius is the only Swedish composer worth programming. I like Sibelius, but do not need to hear him daily.

Wonderful! Without influence of the so called second Vienna school (Schönberg, Webern, Berg), which destroyed any music, especially the classic romantic complex. Imagine, 1945!
