As a Man City fan I am so happy for Vinnie. He didn't take the easy route and rather than jump right into an Assistant Manager or Head Coach at a top club I hope he stays at Burnley for at least 2-3 years. We all saw what happened to managers like Frank Lampard and Patrick Viera who moved to fast too soon.

I wish the same for him as well as a City fan. If we win the UCL, that might guarantee Pep stays for another 2-3 years which could really allow Kompany to get the best out of Burnley.

The only reason Lampard was sacked was because Chelsea had an history with sacking managers way too quick. If he was with Todd he would have stayed. He made 7 academy players start and they all play high level football now. Lampard is an bad example on this regard because of the circumstances

Managing a big club is difficult as their target set is always high and ambitus. Even the club is wealthy enough to meet the target but the competitiveness is very high. Look at Lampard or Potter in Chelsea how are they struggling. Not everyone can do what Pep can, or like Zidane. Kompany should stay at Burnley as long as he can and turn Burnley to the most surprised underdog in Premier League just like Brighton.

Vinnie is so class, excited for his welcome home. He echoed my sentiments to a tea this morning when I heard P Viera was sacked...the run of games they just had was the best teams in England and they sit 12th. Unless CP has a star coach to replace him this is a bad move IMO

I am so impressed with how he analyzed the Patrick Vierra sacking. How can you sack a coach who is overachieving? Whoever made that decision should bow their heads in shame!
@ChesterRGC

overachieving or not, they haven't won a game this year and are 3 pts over relegation. Now I don't think the sacking was fair, but at this stage I can imagine every one of these 9 club's owners are getting nervous about the next 11 matches

As a student of Philosophy, and having long leader experience from businesses and board work in various occupations, I must say that I really really loved Kompanys rational and well analyzed answer on the last question. So satisfying to actually hear a very intellingent answer to something that is a big problem worldwide (and not just in football) *Respect!! He will become an even better leader with that developing and experiences in analyzing skills and having strong reflective mindset!

@@guedrini2045 sentimentality gets you nothing. See lampard, Solskjaer as examples. The best manager in the world needs to replace Pep. Whoever that may be. If that's Vinny, superb! but I very much doubt it and yes I love our captain.
@guedrini2045
@guedrini2045 Жыл бұрын
@@philc1773 I understand that and Vinny still hasn’t proven anything of substance yet, but in your first response u were acting as if the guy was calling for peps immediate sacking. Now I have only watched a few burnley games admittedly but from the few games I’ve seen, kompany has taken a lot of inspiration from peps philosophy to implement into his team’s style of play. The reason I think Kompany will end up proving himself is that he has created a style of play that he expects from his squad which lampard and solskjaer didnt do they just picked an XI and hoped for the best. Life after pep is a frightening thought, but I think it is much more important to appoint someone who is going to play a similar style of football than getting the best available name. It would be amazing if that is Kompany but obviously we shouldn’t force ourself to hire him. Also I genuinely believe if Kompany was offered the job but he didnt 100% believe he could bring success, then he would turn it down because it’s pretty clear how much he still loves this club and how much it means to him.
@guedrini2045
@guedrini2045 Жыл бұрын
@@philc1773 and with pep it’s virtually impossible to predict what he’s gonna do. He could end up leaving the club next season, or he could keep extending his contract every other year until 2030. Although I highly Doubt he’ll leave next year and really don’t think he’ll stay til 2030 we really have no clue what he’s gonna do so it’s entirely possible by the time pep leaves Kompany has proven over multiple years that he has what it takes to become a top tier manager. Sometimes it’s not so bad to wish for a fairytale like that and that’s what the first comment was essentially saying

And who better than Captain Kompany to do it?! Develope his craft as a manager until the time comes. I wish him the best. Except when he's playing against Man City! Lol.

I didn't take it that way. He's just taking unneeded pressure off himself and his players. He wants to stay realistic and acknowledges the difference in tier between both teams but he says that when Burnley bring their best game, we'll see what happens. If they don't, well, we all know what happens then. I didn't get the same defeatist vibe from that that you seem to have.
