Former Providence College Basketball star Ernie DiGregorio, 72, returns to his college to promote his new book "A Star with a Broken Heart." The 247-page memoir details his relationships with his troubled, former teammate Marvin Barnes, and their coach, Dave Gavitt. Known as "Ernie D," DiGregorio's legendary basketball wizardry helped return Providence to its glory days celebrated a decade earlier. (Providence College had won the NIT Championship in 1961 and 1963.)
DiGregorio dedicated the book to the Rev. Robert Morris, who taught English and Theology at Providence from 1957 to 1963. DeGregorio described him as a "true champion of social justice."
