The first concerto for violin dates from the beginning of the creative life of Krenek and is rather short. Here, the form is amplified, and the principles of composition that Krenek derived from the serial practice of Schoenberg and his "pupils" allow unifying the structure of the concerto. This technique does not prevent lyrical or dynamic expresssion, as the music of Schoenberg and Berg had already shown. This is obvious here. This concerto is very expressive.

Not bad for the 140th work of this master. So prolific but often with much to say even if there are no singular works of the stature of Beethoven, Bartok or Babbitt.

Babbitt? This is very subjective! He is very similar in his position at the beginning of new music as Krenek from my point of view. My three Bs might be Berlioz Boulez Berio ;)
