Rebirth is the most underrated ERRA song imo, prolly my fave from them. Guitar is sick and song structure is on another level. Anyone sleeping on Augment needs to change that. Easily one of the best front to back progressive metal records of all time.

Chris Couldn’t agree more man. It’s the album that really got me into the genre and regain my passion for guitar again after putting it down for about 10 years. Can def appreciate different elements of Impulse, Drift, and even Neon, but overall Augment has been the most timeless collection of songs for me. Hope more people check it out.

Most underrated Erra song gotta be Frostbite imo. It’s my third favourite on Augment after Alpha Seed and Dementia.

Ghost of Nothing, Unify, Skyline, The Architect, Frostbite are some of my favorite bangers by ERRA. You really can't go wrong with anything from their catalog though... I think they are due for a new album sometime this year too...

The sound you are referring to at 3:26 (which you heard around 3:11) is called a minor 2nd interval. It is two notes that are only a semitone apart from each other, which creates a very dissonant/harsh sound when played together. Sounds like a string bend is involved here, too.

That sound is also the guitar...they are bending the strings off the fretboard which makes that sound that you just heard

Erra actually has gone through 3 unclean vocalists. Garrison who was the original lead, Ian for moments or clarity and now JT currently for their new stuff!* Each brought something different and unique to the band. You NEED to listen to their original album which is one of my favorites of all time. Seven is my favorite song and tells a story of Seven Gods of Babylon. Please take a look!

That unique guitar part you mentioned is what we call a dissonant chord with bending and some arpeggiating. Welcome to the progressive metalcore/djent genre my friend ;)

That sound is called a siren chord. Used in progressive metalcore mostly. Amazing noise 🤘🤘

Also known as a ”panic chord”, used by early era mathcore. It’s just in a lower octave. A note with a minor second, in this case with a slight bend of a semi-tone, bending the two notes to the same pitch.

This guitar sounds you hear are called dissonance which is when you play two different strings but one note apart and it makes that type of sound .. it's used a lot in metal

That sound you were asking about is actually guitars lol they are basically playing 1 note on the 7th string and 1 note on the 6th string in a way that the notes are almost the exact same note but on different places on the fretboard. So the 6th string note is played lower on the fretboard and the 7th string note is played higher up near the 12th fret I believe

Close - it's frets 12-8 on the 6th and 5th strings, with the 12th fret note being bent up to the same pitch as the 8th fret one. Starts as a major 2nd interval and ends up as a unison with the bend.

What you’re hearing at 3:00 is “dissonance.” This is when two notes that are not harmonically aligned are played together or over each other, either as a chord or an arpeggio. That clash between the two notes create that jarring sound you hear a lot of metal bands do. Here, Jesse bends the strings to get an interesting effect out of it.
