My father made me discover jazz and Erroll Garner together at Salle Pleyel in Paris in 1963. I was 10 years old. Since, they are still alive in me nearly 60 years after

The one and only Erroll Garner. There Is No Greater piano player in the history of the world. No other piano player can play a song in so many different styles and so many different Keys depending on the mood or where his Muse would take him. Stupendous genius and incredible artistic Verve!

The very first time I've heard Erroll Garner speak! An exceptional and incredible musician. It was indeed very good to hear his voice but it must also be said that he's always spoken directly through his music, still does and will always continue to do so!

My favourite jazz pianist. Was only a child when he died, so never got to hear the great man live. An incredible talent with his own unique style which has never been matched. So much joy in his playing, so much invention, improvisation, rich harmony, humour, that wonderful driving left hand in the up tempo numbers, the luscious ballads like "Laura", he could play any tune in any key. So sad that he was only 55 when he died, all that smoking caught up with him. RIP Erroll Garner 15.6.21 - 2.1.1977, small of stature, giant in talent.

Ernest McCarty who played bass with erroll Garner for over 5 years said in an interview, that Erroll Garner was one of the only people ever that could improvise on improvisation. Then he laughs and says I don't think I could even explain that. Actually what that means is that he takes the improvisation that he's doing at that moment and he improvises on that. You will notice that he's constantly changing within the improvisational pattern that he's doing at that time. He does improvisation on improvisation on everything that he does. That's what makes him such a genius as a human. Compared to anyone else that's ever played the piano or play either in a classical sense or in a jazz variety. Absolutely no other player could do what he did and accomplished.

The cut are 7:40 is something Erroll wrote called "Mambo *something* not sure. The cut at 22:05 is the number he always uses to close out a ser, "Erroll's Theme"... he elaborated on it at this concert. It's usually just a chorus or 2.

@@nancyeckroad-haney7309 - Thanks...you know I was actually leaning that way on both of those titles, but was too lazy to check it. I was thinking that mambo that he did on that famous Concert by the Sea LP Mambo Carmel. since its the only one I know him to do.....and then of course closing it out with his theme - which, as I remember, he also did on the same LP. Makes sense. Great work, thanks. I'll update the set list accordingly.
