It’s a raw guitar, to be sure, and the primary one I play. Has a lot of bite and just sounds downright mean at times. Love both Eddie and Nuno, but agree they are definitely not the same player. For one thing: Nobody swings like Eddie. Thanks for watching, brother!

I still a little twinge of pain from those “wasted” years, but hey, it’s better to be playing now than not at all, and I know I’d regret it more if I just let the guitar keep sitting there. Thanks, dude! These days I try to practice about 2 - 3 hours per day. However, I have five children, so I don't always get that amount of practice in : ) Eruption is weird to practice, largely because of Eddie's super quirky (but awesome) manner of playing. For me, I just took each little section and put it to a metronome ramp. The full track doesn't fit well to a metronome, but you can fit various sections just to get them under your fingers, then slowly begin to stitch the entire thing together. I'm still working on it; always so much to improve! Thanks for watching.

Thank you! Eruption is a monster, and I'm still working hard at mastering it. Best advice I can give is to break it down into very small bits and take each section obnoxiously slowly. From there, while the tune as a whole doesn't fit neatly to a click track, I found using a metronome ramp (KZfaq this) for each section extremely helpful for getting them up to speed. Happy playing!

Of course, I would respectfully disagree with the idea that getting (and especially playing!) guitar is a waste of time. Even if you don't become a full-time musician, the guitar teaches many important life skills, most especially dedication and discipline to learning a complex craft. Perhaps you could pitch it that way : ) Otherwise, just start saving up, eventually buy yourself a decent entry model, and have at it. You can always study music theory and ear training in the meantime to set a foundation for yourself. Appreciate the kind words, brother!

Find a job in your area, you’ll have one in no time. That’s how I got my 6 string bass.

Means a lot, me’ dude! Signal chain is pretty basic. I have an echoplex and reverb through the fx loop. I didn’t even remember to plug in my phase 90, haha. Usually, however, I run that into the front of the amp. Otherwise, gain is inappropriately high, with high treble and bass and low mid.

my black 1984 Kramer Striker 300st with German made Floyd Rose, my 80s Marshall Jcm 800 half stack, my old 80s boss and mxr pedals and my Rocktron prophecy rack mount preamp are my favorite pieces of gear! I always prefer the 80s underground metal sound: the best for me! Rock on Man!

I'll see about doing a video. In the meantime, it's a basic set up. Washburn N4. Friedman PTV2, with mids around 10-ish (low!), and bass and treb around 3-ish. Echoplex and Hall of Fame Reverb through FX loop. And that's it!

Trying to emulate his energy, attitude, phrasing, swing, etc., while impossible to do perfectly, forces you to become a more dynamic guitar player. Plus, it’s just darn fun to play.
