I have been hoping to find videos on this camera/ lens setup. I switched from Canon 5d mk3 and I currently use a MC11 with Canon mount lenses but have been researching which e mount lenses I would like to have and had already narrowed it down to this being my main portrait lens so seeing this further confirmed the future purchase, thank you. You totally sold me on this lens. I was sitting here trying decide between the 50mm 1.8 oss and this 30 1.4 for my a6400 i got tonight and this lens kills that 50 woooo. Dope vids man.

I wouldn’t say it kills it lol, it’s just “different”. I would get the 30mm before the 50mm (actually would pick up the 56mm over the 50mm) but the 50mm is definitely a beast as well

@@erwinmarionneaux this sigma and the 50 are the same price at bestbuy right now imma get the 30 just because of the 1.4 and the sharpness im seeing in the video. All i have right now is the kit 18-135 so i need that sweet prime and this is definitely the one lol.

I do recommend the 30mm first! It’s more versatile but definitely don’t think the 50 isn’t a killer lens too. I just think it’s more important to have the 30mm first. Technically the 30mm is your real 50mm on a crop body

Nice portrait shoot... I have sony a6300 too. With sigma 16mm f1.4 and canon 50mm f1.2 (with sigma mc11 adapter) i really do love Canon 50mm f1.2 glass for portrait.. BUT in sony 1.2 canon made in Aperture only 1.3

Did you have to use the Sigma USB Dock to micro adjust the lens before using the lens on the camera? or Did you just put the lens straight on the camera, shoot and it was all good to go?

Thank you for the video. I was wondering if 1/4000 shutter speed is fast enough for backlit photos. Do you encounter any problems shooting this kind of style?

The shutter speed could be anything, every single time you shoot the settings can be different. A backlit photo could be 1/250, 1/8000, or anything else, just depends on the conditions of the shoot. With backlit photos, you're usually trying to find a balance between a good exposure on the subject while keeping the background from being too bright. I talk about this in my photoshop editing video that was recently posted. It's a backlit photo so its a great example. I also have a video on how to get the perfect camera settings every time

Nice pics, helped a lot in my decision whether I get the 30mm or the 56mm one. But bro, you should use a gimbal for your footage, it was insanely shaky, I’m dizzy. Keep the good work!

Did you encounter any problems with this lens on a6300? When I turn the aperture too fast, the iris of the lens will stuck.. then I have to restart the camera for it to work again

Which is better sony 35mm or sigma 30mm for sony a6000? Or they are both similar? I feel sigma is more expensive?

It’s personal preference, the sigma is faster, wider, and produces slightly different colors. The Sony is a native lens so expect slightly better autofocus, it’s stabilized, and a bit more zoomed in

I shoot in raw always, white balance and af settings depend on the conditions, it can be different with every shoot

Hello a6300 and sigma lens does not have image stabilization. There are no problems using such equipment?

No problems, image stabilization helps with long focal lengths and slow shutter speeds

Erwin Have thought about using a flash? if you please try out the MagMod Modifiers especially the MagSphere and Grid maybe even the MagBounce. oh in, addition please have Micaelaen using these Magmod's.

Should I buy an extra sigma 30mm lens if I already have sigma 16mm lens or I should go with a gimbal like zhiyon webbil S at similar price point which I don't have ?

Go with what you need, if you find yourself needing the gimbal, go with it. If you find yourself not needing a gimbal but needing a different focal length, go with the lens

Possibly! Many people (especially models) don’t like smiling pics. I personally don’t like to smile in pics either lol. So I leave it up to them, many usually take the more serious look

You’re not wrong about the smiling of course! Some feel it makes the pics look more like “graduation pictures” or “cheesy” when they smile but at the same time, there are times when models should show off happy smiles. If you look at runway models, some of them have super serious expressions walking down the runway and others are smiling and having fun! So your suggestion isn’t a bad one!

I like the look of it. You can stop down to about f2.8 or so and get a sharper image but I like the look of f1.4

30mm will be the more versatile one. 56mm will give you the best results when considering portrait pics.
