Influenced by R&B, soul, and hip hop, Badu rose to prominence in the late 1990s when her debut album Baduizm (1997), placed her at the forefront of the neo soul movement, earning her the nickname "Queen of Neo Soul" by music critics.

I worked in Midtown Manhattan… she came to my restaurant…. I was lucky to have been her server…. She hooked me up with 10 tickets to her show…plus gave me a huge fat tip…. Needless to say…. She was very sweet….. I was lucky enough to meet her a second time in Chicago….and she totally remembers me😊 and right on the spot…she gave me another set of 10 tickets! To this day… we keep in touch!

That's nice to read from someone who met her IRL that she is so generous and kind and that she even remembered you! Bc I always wonder how famous folks are in real life and to know Erykah is just as giving as she is in her shows is awesome! I saw her in concert and I had a fantastic time!!

I found this for the first time 1200 pm EST May 11, 2024. I didn't know I needed it as much as I do at this moment. It came exactly WHEN I needed it. I have been trying my best to exude the same energy as this Queen does in her every breath. Badu has always been the Queen. Her recurring dream is one that I have been trying to live. It is almost as if she created this performance for a future moment for the exact person to hear it at the moment they needed it, and that is why this was recorded. I know that people may think I am crazy for the way I live, speak, dress, react, and love. But there is a reason for everything that I do. I can only say part of my plan aloud and the rest will be left up to chance that it will go the way the future needs it to. Thank you for understanding your inner Goddess so that the rest of us who were under programming could unlock what was needed. It took a VERY long time to unplug from the mainframe but once I did it was the best thing I ever did. I still have moments that the programming tries to take over, and it takes extreme will power to stay present most times. This was very long winded, and I generally have stopped writing to make sure that people would not have a solidified idea of the way my mind works. But maybe, just maybe I am supposed to. I hope this very human moment I seem to be having reaches those who need it. Keep striving to sit and grow unddr the Suns Rays. You are a glorious reflection of the universe. And if you are a reflection of the universe itself.....why do you doubt your own mind? The Sky is never the Limit, reach for the Stars. ----some crazy lady sitting in the yard of her low income apartment with nothing but $11 to her name with Rent due and a job prospect that will probably stress her out to the point of ending it all one day.

@saea544 You nailed that. When I am fully present people have this eerie way of always saying that I should be doing more with my gifts. In the physical world I am always alone which is half the problem. But I try to take solace in small moments. Like sitting on my porch and letting the sun hit my skin. Amy Winehouse was such an amazing force of nature. I miss her so much. She spoke to a person soul by baring hers. But in order to give us her everything it left her with nothing for herself, which is ultimately caused her to feel so alone she chose the path. This video is amazing because Badu bared her soul and mind during a time that we as a human condition had not started the process of awakening. You will be fine. You are a reflection of the universe. Once you fully remember that allot of issues will no longer be issues. Just lessons that help you plan and teach patience. Be safe.

And Lo and behold it has been 13 days since this post and I said that.. A had grown man in his 70's (but built) do the male dominance hand shake on me a 35 year old black woman that has given birth twice. I do not understand people it was a tough situation and he tried to pull me forward to smash my face into his stairs. My job details me talking to homeowners about gutter filters. At what point during a simple handshake should I be worried about my life or well being? And that is why jobs have me wanting to end it all. I am sorry.

I listened to Erykah since I was was in preschool ,high school i bump this while going to work from caset player to digital she keeps me humble and 100% real® I'm a grown man now who knows how to handle my responsibilitys because of her , and for the fact that I'm south African 🇿🇦

All the Singers, Musicians and Erykah Badu are killin it. This is one of the Best Concerts I ever heard and seen. When the male vocalist start singing "Innervisions" by Stevie Wonder it blew my mind! I love it. Most of this new music we have now SUCKS! I REALLY Miss Neo-Soul.
