Welcome to my KZfaq channel. I am excited to share the unboxing video of the ESAB Renegade VOLT ES 200i. In this video I’ll show what all comes with the machine and how to get everything set up. Enjoy.
The ESAB Renegade Volt is a battery powered stick (SMAW) & TIG (GTAW) welder and the machine is powered by DeWALT flexvolt batteries.
Features
200A output on AC mains (230V)
Up to 140A output on battery power
Includes 4 DeWalt FlexVolt 20V/60V max 12Ah batteries
AMP+ hybrid mode for extra power
Lightweight and portable battery powered welder
Durable, impact-resistant housing
Sun-friendly, intuitive user interface
Memory storage for welding parameters
3 year warranty for Machine only
-Versatility to operate in battery, wall power or AMP+ Hybrid mode.
-Yes, this machine can be used on regular wall power for every day shop use.
This battery power pack runs on 6Ah, 9Ah & 12Ah DEWALT FLEX VOLT batteries. Renegade VOLT can weld up to 33 (E6013) electrodes on a single charge using four 12 Ah batteries, and those are included in the package. Along with a fast charger*. The exact number of electrodes it can weld depend on a lot of different factors like side of the electrode, how old the batteries are, how long of wait time in-between electrodes and how music your brightness is turned up, just to name a few.
Example: I wanted to put something in perspective, let's say 1 electrode will weld 5 inches.
5 inches x 33 electrodes per charge = 165 inches or 13+ feet.
Actual results will vary but wanted to share the concept.
Conclusion, if you need to weld more than 13 feet in over all length, you can get a second set of batteries and that would give you 26 feet or weld without interruption. At least in my experience, most of the jobs I've been on are 90% prep (cutting, cleaning, grinding) and 10% welding.
I plan on getting a power converter for my truck and charging the batteries while they are not in use. One other perk to the ESAB Renegade VOLT using DeWALT Batteries is the batteries can also be used for for other tools on the job site.
Side note: For small mobile welding jobs, I do recommend the ESAB Vac Pak, sealed boxes of electrodes, that are perfect for jobs where you need fresh electrodes but dont want to open a 50lb can or have access to an electrode oven. You can check those out at amzn.to/47wB4pR
While using AMP+ Hybrid Mode, the Renegade VOLT supplements AC mains power with battery power to prevent nuisance trips on smaller breaker sizes or to provide more output when welding on 120V input. That’s an amazing feature, especially if your in an area with old houses and buildings and old electrical panels. Here in the Pittsburgh, I still get lot of job sites and houses still have glass fuses in the electrical panel boxes where I trip breakers. So, having portable power is a must for me.

Thanks man. It's a really cool machine and I can't wait to use it more. The banner is perfect placement, I might need a second one for a TIG only room om putting together.

Thank you! I’m not particularly a fan of being in-front of the camera but I still manage to have fun. I’ve already used the welder a couple of times but look forward to part 2 with my friend Russ, he’s big into off-roading so we’ll have to see what all we can get into, in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks Alex! So far it’s a solid machine and will be a great asset to have for those small repairs away from the shop. Im sure as my family gets wind I have this machines all these repairs will pop up randomly for family functions. Haha.

It definitely has its place in the world I do a lot work for Amazon and something like this would be beneficial. Always popping the breakers. I looked into the fronius one and I couldn’t find it to really justify 4k for a quick job but it would pay off eventually

I agree, it will be a great tool and asset, especially for someone like you with small jobs all over the place. Most of the battery operated welders out there are pretty good but this one specifically I like because the battery’s can also be swapped out if they are out of power or use the batteries in grinders or other tools while on the repair. Welder and grinder go hand in hand. Thanks for checking out the video, I definitely had fun making it.

@@jonnysweld that’s the best benefit of that for sure It sux I switched over to Milwaukee tools. That would have been a killer for my arsenal. I need it to last at least 3 hours

@@TheWeldProfessor Maybe the'll come out with more battery power pack brand options in the future.... who knows. Milwaukee is solid too. I don't know how long the machine will last, but it will weld about 30 electrodes, so however long that takes. Ive done a little welding with it so far and will do a small amount over the winter and definitely putting it to work this summer 2024.

So there needs to be a separate charging unit? Seems they should have built that all into 1 unit. I have a similar set up, though I use an Everlast PowerMTS 141Si with an Ecoflow Delta Max 2000 not as compact as that but definitely Superior in power, Ah , charging options, capability, and welding process options. I do use Dewalt Tough System to transport it. I use the rolling tool case for the battery, the deep box for the Everlast and the medium box for consumables, grounding clamps, etc. Super easy portability. Works good for minor to medium repairs where carrying a heavy generator just doesn't make sense. Great video!

Hey, thanks for watching and for the comment. I just checked out the Delta and looks like a pretty cool option for portable power and the Everlast both make a good mobile setup. For recharging, yes it’s a separate charger. I’m sure a charging feature may be in the future, it’s not there as of right now. But the plus side to being dewalt batteries is when they are out of power, if you have a backup set of batteries, you can swap them out and keep welding. So if planned right, there is little to no downtime. I like the idea of the tool box. I’ll be doing something similar, just waiting for some Black Friday deals so hopefully get them at a good price.

@@jonnysweld I watched another video where the person used a similar version Ecoflow to run a Lincoln welder and I decided to go with the bigger Watt hour model. Battery technology has advanced so much. What's great about it is it can be charged using solar, wall or combination of both and can run many other appliances as well. Thanks for the reply!

That’s super cool. Not just for the welder but to have in general. I would use that all the time on camping trips, on the road or even around the house. Great idea. Feel free to hit me up on IG, would love to follow along and see your work.

@@jonnysweld ya it is definitely versatile. I live on the 5th floor in an apartment building and wouldn't be able to use a gas gen if the power went out. With this it will help to keep the fridge cold if need be lol. I do believe I follow you on IG🙌🏻
