It was the tribute for the brave people, who won't let russians blow up our nucler power station (since the beginning of the war russians occupy our nucler power station - really horrible things are happening there now)

Yep, I watched Vidbir. The broadcaster’s KZfaq channel livestreamed it and folks in the US could watch. I don’t speak Ukrainian so I am definitely certain I missed a lot of great commentary, jokes, etc, but it was still fun to watch. I didn’t start watching national selection contests until last year and last year only watched a few because I honestly didn’t know what to even look for. This year KZfaq seems to be bringing them to my attention either when they’re live or after they’ve finished livestreaming. And I follow a channel that does compilation videos of entries, performances, etc of these national selections which helps me know the names of the contests. It’s the second channel to another Eurovision reactor…though he doesn’t post many videos in English so I seem to watch more of the videos on his second channel that are these compilation videos than his first channel. Anyways Vidbir was interesting with the variety of songs and I liked that a lot of the artists wore something in their costumes or included something in their staging that reflected traditional Ukrainian culture….even while singing or rapping to modern sounding songs. And of course Verka, Jamala, etc performed interval acts that were great to see and hear. I didn’t have a favorite while watching it, but Довбуш by Fiinka and Я вдома by Tember Blanche have become favorites to relisten to afterwards along with this song. Great to see you all back at reacting to Eurovision! Apparently I missed KZfaq’s notifications of when you’ve posted these videos originally because the Eurovision channel and a few other channels all posted new videos at the same time. I’ll admit it’s suddenly been a busy few days trying to get through all the new videos while also taking care of other things in the world beyond the internet that have popped up, too. So I was thrilled whenever your Belgium reaction popped up in my notifications and I was like “wait, are they really starting with that or have a missed some notifications.” Came to your channel and yep I must’ve missed some notifications because you all started with Albania! (I had checked the channel a couple weeks ago to see if you had began posting yet, but I was early). Great video! And I kinda agree with Maia about the song sounding kinda like it could’ve been in the ASC. And I bet if it had been the stage would’ve been filled with lots of people and the jury would’ve ranked it low. I’m still waiting to hear more about the next ASC. I did get to go to AleXa’s homecoming concert here in Oklahoma City! It was fun with way more people there than the venue expected. Her parents, best friend, former teachers, former coworkers, and even some former classmates were there in the audience. My niece and I were literally two rows back from her parents and we had spoken to them outside earlier in the day and didn’t realize who they were. LOL But yeah, the sound of the song seems like something that would’ve been selected for ASC. But even in the metro station, the staging was better than it probably would’ve been in ASC. Still hope ASC continues and gets better, but I am used to US companies canceling/etc things I enjoy that they make. Maybe that’s why I gravitate towards so much non-US stuff that seems to stick around. 🤷‍♂️

No, no soccer, of course it is a song about war. Central is the cross, which stands not only for Jesus but also for death and the white cross is the war sign of Ukraine. At the beginning you can see the characters in the style of Soviet construtism, which is probably to represent Russian propaganda here. And the dancers with gas masks are playing with an atomic ball, which can't really be seen as playing soccer. The heart of steel can of course be seen as a sign for the Ukrainian soldiers at the front.

You've switched the name tags at the beginning. I think this song has the most potential to be good out of the ones released so far. His voice is good and the song can also get good with enough work.

It's funny that the first two songs reviewed are last and first in the odds. I think this is the 2nd best Ukraine entry of all time. Will it win? Probably not especially if Australia selects Dami Im to return to Eurovision.

It is hard to judge a song created in a warzone. Interesting choice, but, for me, it doesn't quite gel as a song.

I'm with Tyler with this. Not my type of music. And I assume that Tyler is not an ace poker player, 20 seconds into the song you can read on his face "aww, this is not good!"

I don’t mind this one… but it IS a tad generic” sounding to my ear which in this context is not a plus for me. I am also not a fan of “modern” RnB. There were more interesting options in my opinion but sadly they went with… I’m gonna say “safe”. Respectable effort. Staging was good. But I wanted more overall.

I think this is one of the weakest entries from Ukraine. They had great and very Ukraine song in national final but they didnt choose her😭😭 Jerry Heil - When God Shut The Door you definitely should listen it
