Ironically most escape rooms actually are called escape room for nothing. Due to fire safety rules you can’t actually lock people in a room without giving them an exit, so escape rooms are legally forced to have an unlocked exit at all times. Many escape rooms also let you leave to use the bathroom too.

I went to an escape room with family, my brother spent a large part of the time working on a simple math puzzle. In the end, he never figured it out. When the person who ran it told us about what we needed to do to finish since we were close, he explained the math puzzle. It didn't do the order of operations properly. He said the reason it was like that was because most people wouldn't know to do it correctly.

So they reward the people that are bad at math for being bad at math then the people that are decent at math, since order of operations isn't even that hard to learn, just have to sit there and cry, terrible escape room ngl
@EchoRoss2 ай бұрын
im so confused how the room setters didn’t think to just… make a different math puzzle? put some more parenthesis in there? parenthesis and brackets are honestly the best at making the order of operations not NEEDED as long as they’re placed the right way. 6 + 2 x 6 is vague, and equals 18 according to the order of operations (multiply before add). however left-to-right reading, 6 + 2 is 8, x 6 is 48. but parenthesis 6 + (2 x 6) would make it so much easier to understand. the fact they went “oh this is stumping people due to the order of operations being kinda confusing… lets just make the useful answer mathematically wrong!” is stunning lol.

This reminds me of the time my family went to an escape room in Virginia and there was this chess board that was giving my dad a lot of trouble (we were calculating the moves of each chess pieces and moving them along the chess board to get a code), so I just called the front desk and asked (which we were allowed to do) and the guy said to move the chess piece across the board until we felt a magnet and start the stuff we were doing from there. At one point the voice on speaker told us the code to enter and it was the one that we were entering for 15 minutes. A tiny girl with giant glasses entered the room and came to see what the issue was. She took a look at the padlock, turn to the camera and screamed "Brandon! Meanwhile ARGs be like: Sort all the files in the game's directory and find what the 8235th file would be if they looped infinitely (which is just 8235 % n, where n is the number of files). It'll be what appears to be a blank image file. Open it an editor and examine the 82nd pixel from the RIGHT and the 35th pixel from the BOTTOM (because a blank file suggests that the image is LEFT... UP... to your imagination, so start from the bottom-right and travel LEFT and then UP) and you'll find it's a fully transparent Yellow pixel. This gives us the RGBA value of #FFFF0000. Since we're only dealing with max and min values, that could be expressed as "1100." So take the lock and enter 0011, because also the number is reversed for no reason.
