In today’s digital age, it may seem to be outdated to own or purchase a typewriter and use on a regular basis until things have changed, and typewriters are making a tremendous come back between all ages & backgrounds & surprisingly used in many different & creative ways.
This Blog & Vlog has been a work in progress for a while now as I felt like it is about time to make a point and give solid reasons & facts to justify buying a typewriter & using it when and where we are swamped with technologies and digitized electronics that are supposed to make our life easier.

⭕️Do you own a typewriter & how often do you type on it ❓❓
@SethCarlson
@SethCarlson 9 ай бұрын
Yes! I bought my very first typewriter from you guys and I haven’t been able to stop buying them since. I now own a Hermes 3000, 2000, and Baby, as well as a Smith-Corona Stirling and I have a late 1960s baby with cursive typeface en route. I type on my 2000 and 3000 almost every day for journaling, letters to my friends, and copying down quotes and poems that I hang in my office for pondering. Since starting this typing practice, I’ve also been inspired to begin bullet journaling and overall, taking a much more analog approach to my daily life. These practices combined have helped me gain a lot of clarity and insight into my own inner life, and I think other people could also benefit greatly from thinking of ways to bring more analog tools into their daily life. Thank you for this video. Your points are spot on, Walid.

I had to stop buying typewriters years ago when I ran out of room to store them! 😮 I use a Hermes Rocket for journalling about 4 times a week, and I own over 60 units, including 2 Model P "Vogues", an Adler Universal 39, and 2 IBM Selectric "Blues". LOVE them all!

I have an Olympia and write with it every day. I’m 48 so I grew up with typewriters in my house and school. I was at the end of an era. 🥲

Love this. Typewriting has revolutionized ny creative and writing life, for all the reasons you mentioned. Writing had become...superficial and discard-able after years writing on a laptop. Now words are sacred again. My current daily writing happens on a Smith Corona Silent Super. When I travel, an Olympia Splenda 33 or a Tower Chieftain, a rebranding of, I believe, the SC Skyriter. Other members of the family include a banged up Brother Opus that works alright, a SC Clipper, and a beast of a Remington Rand that's very old and needs some TLC. Once I've cleaned it up, I intend to use it as a functional centerpiece in my home. On the hunt for a reasonably priced Lettera and a Hermes.

Love your videos! Thanks so much for easy to understand ideas and info in all your videos. One funny and very handy benefit I get from using my typewriter for most of my writing is my dogs and cats really don’t like …the sound, or my movements, or both, or something else? Whatever it is - the dogs leave me alone and the cats stay off the desk, unlike when I’m writing with a pen or computer keyboard. I can get a lot more done when no one is laying on my keyboard or pawing at my legs.

I LOVE my manual typewriter! I LOVE your video and I agree 100%! I wish we were all still using them. It is a very rewarding experience compared to using a computer which I do not enjoy at all. I purchased two and I love typing on them. It is a very creative process with a great flow that is near impossible on a computer, Not being able to instantly delete some of my thoughts winds up being a blessing and I find value in them later when I am able to revisit them again because I wasn't able to get rid of them so easily. I find the sound of the keys hitting the page and the ring of the bell very relaxing also. Many very famous and very creative people use manual typewriters instead of computers. Woody Allen composed all of his most famous movies on a manual typewriter he has had since he was a young man. Tom Hanks has a collection of manual tyewriters and continues to use his still today.

What is also nice is the fact that I can take my creativity anyplace I choose without the need of electricity. I can sit under a beautiful tree at a park with my portable typewriter as well as sit on a beach or in my backyard and I am able to take it along with me,

I own 15 typewriters. Mostly Smith Corona from 1947 through 1972. They all look and work like new. I use a different one everyday. Been typing since the age of 16 in high school. That was back in 1966. I am 73 today. By the way…that’s a nice mat you have under the typewriter. Do you sell them?
