The Florida Keys are unique in every way. Just getting there is stunning with the narrow bridge hovering over the teal blue water for so many miles. And then there are the roosters walking the streets downtown, Hemingway's six-toed cats and nightlife that feels like Las Vegas. But if you're not into the party scene, like us, there are plenty of other things to do such as visit the Southernmost Point Bouy and Mile Marker 0. You can take a boat or plane to the Dry Tourguas National Park or hit the Farmers Markets, which is one of the best in our opinion. I took an impromptu trip to Key West last August ... Literally got in my car and just kept driving until I couldn't drive any further. Spent 5 days in Paradise with my dog, clearing my mind and doing all the things I had been wanting to do. Dry Tortugas and the seaplane had been a bucket list item most my life and there happened to be a cancellation so I was able to finally do it ... Perfect weather, epic day. That spur-of-the-moment trip and spending 5 days boating, snorkeling, kayaking, adventuring and living life made me start to stop daydreaming about traveling the country and start planning, for real. You guys have been, and continue to be, my research and inspiration as I work on making this life a reality soon. To see you in the seaplane and in Key West brings it full circle in a way. ❤️🛩️🏖️

I have visited Key West three times. Each time I did a water jump (parachute) with a subsurface (SCUBA) Infil of beach. Thankfully after insert & training had plenty of time to sight see. Love the Keys. And, I love your vids. They help me live vicriously thru you. I'm 100% disabled and can no longer travel. Thanks for taking me along with you. I see you are in Destin in my next vid to watch. I grew up there. Love the FL Panhandle; still have family there. Stay safe and keep posting. Semper Fi

Great tip about putting the awning in every time you leave. We were at River Run resort in Granby Colorado, left the awning out going to dinner (1 hour) winds kicked up to 50+mph. I rushed back to the trailer and 2 guys were trying to hold it down. They were 5ft off the ground holding onto the awning, Flying !!! Awning ripped away from the trailer on both ends . Hard Lessons learned . ~Shane

Oh my gosh!! I just found ya'll this morning and I can't stop watching! It's Saturday and I should be doing stuff and here I sit! You are in Key West now, but earlier you were in Asheville, NC. MY wife Barbara and I entirely enjoyed this video. We raced hobie cats in the 80's and 90's & flipped our cat every way possible, even pinwheeling it while trapped out a few times, so, now you can really say you are "experienced". Mark we enjoy your down to earth, honest and realistic presentation of RV life on the road. Tricia, we also appreciate your constant focus on the family's wellbeing, organization healthy meals / food, support and keeping Mark in a reality check (like when you calmly & assertively responded to him about the stepping stool being left behind in his rush to pack and leave for this trip.) I’ve been binge watching season 1 this weekend. First time to watch it, my goodness, the children have grown so much in 9 seasons. Of course your rv knowledge and experience has really grown in 9 seasons as well. This video just makes me happy. My wife and I are buying her parents 31 foot travel trailer this year and we plan on traveling. I am going to start watching all the KYD videos that I can because not only is the information very helpful, but your delivery of that information is enjoyable to listen to, and I catch moments of literature or creativity in the scenes you chose to be a part of your videos. for example: your son running with Charlie....a boy and his dog....we have two boys and will be bringing our Golden Retriever with us on our adventures as well. I lived on the keys for a year, traveling by motorcycle, (Triumph) and living in a tent, feeding on fish we caught ourselves - we only visited Kew West for a day, because $$$. It was heaven that whole year, every single day! This was in 1970. We knew the whole string of islands would never be the same again - we knew we were blessed to have that experience, and I've treasured the memories ever since.

When I visited Key West a few years ago, I took the boat trip out to the Dry Tortugas and it was as beautiful as you showed. On the way to the island, the waves were about 6 ft high and about 1/3 of the patrons were sea sick, so it looks like you chose the better travel option. It is so worth the visit.

Marc. The red button on the water filter is for releasing the pressure (if there is any) before you open it to change the filter. That’s more for when it’s hooked to a house. Great video!

On January 19, 2021, that exact plane you flew out on had a power failure shortly after takeoff from Key West International and was forced to do a water landing. Three people were on board. No one was hurt and the plane was undamaged. I'm not sure when you did your flight but that would of made for some exciting video! Being a float plane with a lot of surrounding water sure gave the pilot a lot of options for a safe landing.

love this trip of yours. I went there back in the 70s in high school marine biology field trip, we camped there for the whole week - drove from Va Beach to Key West and took a shrimp boat there. We were a group of 12 (10 students and 2 teachers) we camped on the beach. It was great, long before it was a state park, the rangers were there doing research on migration habits of the marine life (mostly lobster) The water was so very clear. It was an amazing trip. I went back with family 2015ish took the smaller tour boat there and stayed the day. STILL great! I have 8mm vidoes of the 1st trip. Dolphins came and played with the boat on both trips! It is an amazing place. Glad you went and enjoyed it.

We jumped in the RV today and are en route to Key West from Idaho. Thanks for some great ideas of what to see and do while we’re there. Really liked the dog beach tip!

We were just there 2 weeks ago. Luckily we have family that owns a catamaran so we had a very nice place to stay. I tried to convince my husband to take the home tour but to no avail. I'm glad y'all got to do it and showed it on here! We did do the coast guard cutter tour which was super cool.

I have been several small planes including sea planes. It always freaked me out when they had windows open and I could see the pilot's shirt flowing with the breeze. It seems wrong to me. Great tip about schedule a later time slot and doing a half day instead of a full day. I love how excited she gets, just like a little kid! Pure Joy! Happy Birthday Caleb!! I would have been watching from a lawn chair too!

I've been to the Dry Tortugas 3 times. Once by tour boat out of Key West and twice by Private Sailboat. I loved them all, but flying in needs to be my next trip! You mentioned being there after the crowd leaves...Spending several days there for the before and after crowd times is even better! Taking your own boat out there is so cool.

Another great KYD video! We went to Dry Tortugas in August, about ten years ago. We put our lunch bag under one of those picnic tables while we explored the fort. Came back to a lunch bag full of biting ants! Had to drown everything in the water. Was an awesome experience, very hot, great snorkeling. Your video brought back great memories!
