How are those vines wrapped around the ring still intact after the wormhole is established? Surely the kawoosh phase would've severed them.

If that bugs then think of how the Earth gate even functions. They have a platform running right through it. I always thought any obstruction in the formation of the portal. Isn't that how "burying" a Stargate works?

You beat me to that comment, I was just about to type about that until I saw your comment. The only explanation I can think is since the vines (plants or whatever they are are organic) they do not dissolve like a human hand does when it is inside the event horizon! Maybe the "kawoosh" severed them after they had escaped!

but wouldn't the gate have residual power in it from previous dial ins to do a single manual dial? I feel like they've done this many times throughout the series. Season 3 finale for one.

Yeah, I always wondered how they did that. I assumed they used some kind of Asgard power source or the ship itself was somehow able to power the gate. You can power it with car battery though apparently.

@@Chrisindapurplehouse the inner track only unlocks, when it got enough charge for a wormhole, the SGC keeps it charged to that level, so that they can start dialing at any moment (and run diagnostics in the background). incoming wormholes dont charge the gate in any way (unless energy is somehow conducted through the wormhole via radiation from the other side, like the stargate destroyer). the earth stargate is the only known gate, that would have a residual charge.

How on earth did not see the guy jump through behind them when they reached the other side?? When they got back to earth, they only found the guy wondering outside for some reason.....
