From Season 1 Episode 4 "A Good Day at White Rock": Michael takes some time off to go rock climbing at White Rock. Unfortunately, he soon discovers that a rowdy biker gang known as the Scorpions is planning to conduct a local gang war against their rivals, the Road Dogs. A pretty girl named Sherry who runs the General Store and her little brother Davey are the Scorpions' first targets

I wish the startup sequence noise stayed the same throughout the series. Season one may not be as “well put together” as the following seasons, but it had a unique flair to it… sound wise at the very least.

There's just something about season 1 episodes that still feels magical. Maybe it's the soundtrack of Stu Philips, maybe it's the slightly more diverse camerawork, or maybe it's only that you're watching one of the very first episodes of a legendary series. I'm not sure, but while watching season 4 right now (which I do enjoy as well), I started to appriciate S1 even more for its somewhat unique atmosphere.

It's more secret undercover work, with what felt more serious and higher stakes in many situations which is what KITT was originally for, where later seasons especially S4 is just direct action Michael Bay level 80s version stuff. S1 and S2 probably the best, although a lot of filming errors in S1.

Yeah, the tone of Season 1 did change somewhat when Don Peake took over from Stu Philips as composer. And Robert Foster replaced the late R.A. Cinader as executive producer.
