Back in 1991, Metallica's Kirk Hammett approached ESP with an idea for a new signature guitar - one that incorporated many of his KH-2's features, into an axe with a single cutaway design.
And thus the illustrious KH-3 Spider - the guitar he played on the band's Black Album - was born!
Now, with the ESP LTD KH3 Spider, you get a stunning recreation of his legendary KH-3 Spider, built to celebrate the guitar's 30th anniversary, at a much more affordable price than the custom shop version.

i usually dont like LP shapes cos they kinda feel like theyre gonna slide off my leg but i played one of these in a guitar store and absolutely loved it, i want one so bad

Always loved that guitar has a Melody Maker-type headstock. I think I’m the only person on the planet (aside from Kirk😆) who loves the Melody Maker headstock.

I've always wanted this guitar. I used to drool over it in the musicians friend catalogue in the 90's. Not sure I have any choice but to buy this reissue lol. I'd love to have ESP on the headstock, but I really don't see any justification for the massively higher price over the LTD version. The specs look identical?

I wonder if kirk ever used his “Randall” on any recording or live event. I think most likely they handed him a contract that would offer him extra income and it tanked.

pretty much any of the eclipse ec-1000 are very close, if you want to spend a bit more there is the esp eclipse not the esp ltd eclipse (confusing I know), but they are all pretty much great.

Kirk have just sign with Gibson, I'm not sure what's going to happen with all ESP collection so Buy one could be an investment too. Also will Gibson can make all Kirk's requests? What do You guys think?

Kirk's resume pretty much qualifies him to stay with ESP and Gibson. Gibson will definitely take care of Kirk's requests so we'll certainly see some signature models in the future! Here's hoping they'll make an epiphone signature series like what Gibson did with slash!

As far as i understand, Kirk remains an ESP signed guitarist. The Gibson collaboration is more an endorsed re-release of his older guitars such as his Gibson 79 (i think 79) flying V and what not in various specs and models, not to mention that he is the current owner of the Greeny Les Paul.

They have different levels of affordable. This is one of their upper range affordable guitars. They have plenty that are under a $1000

“An absolute riff machine!” Lmao. Kirk Hammett was my guitar hero when I was growing up and learning to play, but seriously what in the hell is up with the basic ass spider graphic? That looks like something that would come out of a gumball machine. I think this guitar would be sick without that.
