I have a couple of these. I've not touched them yet. One will be used to check up on what's happening at the mailbox and the other will get a better quality camera module so that I can record my youtube videos on a camera that I put together.

Living in a complex makes checking my mail a minor inconvenience, so I like the mailbox monitor idea. Problem is the mailbox is too far from my home for Wi-Fi to work, so I’d probably have to go GSM or LoRa. Then there’s the challenge of powering the thing. Maybe a tiny solar panel and the device only comes out of sleep once every 24 hours to snap a photo for me 🙂

I usually throw Tasmota32 Webcam on these, web flashable, so no coding needed. I use them to monitor meters and the gas leak detector remotely. Easy projects, great utility.

Also 'easy projects' need attention and ideas to make them work! Good use-case for the ESP32-CAM.

Yes, definitely, it has GPIO pins that can connect to just about any digital sensor.
