I met Esperanza last night...she is absolutley as wonderful as her music!!

I hear Erykah Badu, Basia and Steely Dan in this one track alone. Brilliant. The world of jazz was waiting for Esperanza.

I get that lump in my throat, shortness of breath. Eyes well with joyous tears. I love what she does to me. No one else ever did this in my 38 years of loving music.

I can see how you think that but she's definitely not selling out. If you look into her project more, you will learn that the mission statement behind this album was not to get her onto the radio necessarily, but to bring jazz more into the forefront of today's mainstream music. If you haven't already, you should check out the DVD that went along with the bonus edition of the cd, it contains 10+ music videos and some really awesome behind the scenes features that are worth seeing.

I love this woman. She's a female version of Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Rick James, Billy Preston, Lenny Kravitz, Larry Graham, Stanley Clarke (as well as so many others whose names are too long to name). Versatility in every sense of the word defines her. Can't wait to see her in concert one of these days. BTW, they played this @ Starbucks just now. I plan to get this bad boy next pay period!

This track is therapy after a long day at the job...loop it a few times on the way home from work and you're guaranteed to feel better. Only genius can get this accomplished while singing about it!

Generally love the groove in most of her songs !!! Really has this repetitive feel in a lot of her tunes, snare hit on 3, bass line on 2&, 3, 4.

I must say that the video is fun to watch, too. I should keep this CD in my car and play it the next time I'm in a traffic jam. Maybe people will get out of their cars and start dancing.
