Ja Morant might seem like an obvious draft pick now -- he's projected to go No. 2 overall to the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2019 NBA draft. But the former Murray State point guard spent much of his high school and college years being overlooked. In fact, his basketball talent might have gone entirely undiscovered if not for a tractor tire and a bag of chips. E:60’s Clinton Yates sits down with the 19-year-old to uncover the details of his unusual -- and sudden -- path to the center of the basketball conversation.

Timothy A Halley they really just look for size and athleticism nowadays. I think there mentality is that they can make these raw kids develop skills which makes sense but sucks for the kids that aren’t as genetically gifted but work there ass off.

even a guy as talented as Ja Morant almost didn’t get a chance at his dream because of lack of willingness to give a “shorter” player the opportunity. It’s really a shame how many players with superstar potential must get overlooked because of that.

I'm shaking my head because I just can't imagine how his father trained him personally instead of getting him into basketball programs which are expensive. This is just one of those stories will tell you that the hindrance of achieving your goals or making them begins inside of your head.
