Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how much the officiated calls have been going against both the UNC basketball and football teams since the Tez Walker fiasco?

I haven't noticed that, but I did notice that the refs simply handed the game to Nova in the 2016 final. TBF, they were robbed in the Sweet Sixteen against us in '05 with the phantom walk in the final minutes. But that doesn't excuse the blatantly biased officiating in '16, of course. Also, Nova, like other Big East teams, tends to play rather dirty, and the refs tend to let them get away with it.

Lol you're delusional. In football the refs gave UNC the game against Duke, and tried to help UNC against NC St but fortunately we were too much better for it to matter.

It’s part of the anti-ACC bias in college basketball and football going on right now. I remember 2 years ago was when it really started (or at least when I really started noticing it) when the major networks kept saying it was a “down year” for the ACC. The ACC ended up w/ 3/8 teams in the Elite 8 (Duke, UNC, Miami) and 2/4 teams of the Final Four w/ UNC blowing a 16 point lead at halftime to lose the Nat’l Title to Kansas in the final seconds of the game after Bacot went down with ankle injuries and Brady Manek may have had a concussion. I believe the ACC had 5 total teams in that tournament with Notre Dame having to win a play-in game and VT only getting a bid bc they shockingly won the ACC tournament. Currently the ACC only has 2 ranked teams in 2024 (UNC and Duke) while the BIG-12 has like 8 teams ranked…pretty wild.

Lol people can’t keep complaining about FT difference and refs. I get sometimes refs can make bad calls one way, but can’t always just use FT difference as the reason. For example if a team just drives better and is more aggressive, they’ll draw more fouls. Doesn’t mean refs bailed out

The jury is out on Hubert Davis! This looks nothing like "tarheel basketball since his tenure.No pace,back cuts ,ball movement or screens for shooters.Its a nba style offense..Just inside out play,penetration and try to kick like they did with his knicks team playing with Patrick Ewing.Its seems hard for former "ole school players" to be successful at coaching the college game because of this concept.How could you possibly allow back downs on smaller defenders all game and not double the post.

Villanova pushed off all game and got 36 free throw attempts compared to UNCs 22. Refs set the tone down the stretch. They were the difference.

Coach Davis, how many points does Dixon have to score - while the rest of Villanova pretty much does next to nothing (three of the other starters were 2-9, 1-8, and 1-4) - before you figure out you should be double-teaming him every time he has the ball? Pay attention. - But it was Villanova's 32-36 at the free throw line that really made a huge difference...and looks a little suspicious - that seems like an awful lot of fouls called on UNC - Three guys fouled out, and almost a fourth (Bacot had 4 fouls)?? I'd have to go back and look at the game again, but without looking it back over, almost 40 fouls called, on a team that plays pretty decent defense, well, that just seems like a lot. (The average number of fouls called on each team during the 2022-23 season was 16.5. 36 is more than DOUBLE that.)

Yeah it was a nail biter, but the last five minutes (before overtime) I knew Carolina was going to lose. Don’t look at the stats, it’s very one sided in fouls.

Not a fan of either team just here to say that all the complaining about refs is hilarious. Villanova was the aggressor for most of the game, and they got rewarded for it. That’s how basketball is supposed to be played. You earn the benefit of the doubt by going straight at your defender.
