Only 12 clean sheets in all competitions. Only 2 clean sheets in the UCL which were against small teams in Leipzig and Braga. Great GK but having Rudiger (which according to list is the best) in front of him made him look a lot better than what people make him out to be. Unai Simon had a better season than him with 50% of his games being clean sheets while having a much worse defensive line than Madrid’s, but nobody watches La Liga games that don’t involve the top three to know about his performance this year.

There’s just too many RM fans in this world to accept the reality. You could probably go and ask 100 RM fans who had a better La Liga season between Lunin and Unai Simon and probably over 90 of them will say Lunin.

Mbappe has 44 goals and 10 assists this season all competitions, Vini has 24 goals and 11 assists this season all competitions. Both players are big game players. I am a Real Madrid Fan but even I know Mbappe is better than Vini.

@@ARIYBALL Mbappe playing in the squad makes PSG significantly better. They would have won the season regardless without him, but him in the Squad improves the whole team. Vini jr was out for a good chunk of the season, and in that time period Rodrygo stepped up, and for a brief period it did not feel like we needed Vini Jr back immediately. I believe Real Madrid being Real Madrid they would have still made it far into the UCL, due to the contributions of Bellingham, Brahim, Rodrygo and Joselu who put us in the UCL final.

Vini should be top 1 there. Second place is Kane. Third is Haaland and 4th is Mbappe. If you consider their Leagues, titles and performances, I see no other list. Maybe Haaland over Kane but the man carried Bayern

I agree that Gabriel is egregious but not Raya - no disrespect to him but that Arsenal's defense (and Midfield) in front of him helps him a lot, his distribution is phenomenal but in terms of shot stopping I can't remember many games where you could say Raya kept Arsenal in it or made many marquee saves (with the exception of the Champions League shootout against Porto)

Fede Valverde is a glaring omission to the top 10 midfielders list. I’m not shocked since most of the pundits and espn people got most of their predictions wrong all year. Based on minutes on the pitch, his impact on the team and on the pitch, having the champions league goal of the season (semis against city) plus being handed the 8 by Kroos he deserves to be in top 5 with his consistency over the last 3 years.

Rudiger is the heart of defense on a La Liga and Champions League winning squad. He produced immense performances containing attacking threats from Barcelona, Manchester City, amongst other foes in both competitions. Van Dijk and Saliba, great as they were - did not achieve comparable success this season. Feels strange to single Rudiger out as someone undeserving of the #1 spot when this was an incredible year for him. This is coming from a Barcelona fan btw.

You know what's funny? Suddenly when Vini Jr becomes the best player in the UCL and should be acknowledge by that, a random list of 100 players is put in the discussion. Is even worse when you remember that Mbappe, that this year, in the biggest games never showed up is crowned as the number one, Kane had a good year but his team failed to win anything and Haaland just like Mbappe never showed up when it mattered. If this is not trying to change the "narrative" I don't know what it is. Strangely when Vini should be discussed more as the best player in the season is not even remembered that he was crowned by UEFA as the best.
