I think a lot of people who followed Argentina and Messi prior to the World Cup knew that they would get this far, or at least to the semis. Messi has said it before, but they may not be the clear favorites like Brazil was, but they won't go down without a fight. The shock of losing that first game to Saudi Arabia without much of a fight would immediately contradict that, but we all knew that as soon as they got into the knockouts, there was only one result waiting to happen. Argentina in the finals vs whoever meets them on the other side. Frankly speaking, I think Brazil was probably the team I was most worried about because they are also South American and they are familiar with Argentina's game, but I am expecting an Argentina victory on Sunday. And if they do lose, then so be it but it will be a fight to the death until the very end.

Argentina lacks pace and aerial threat, so their attack is very limited. France has options, so it makes them so much more threatening. France doesn’t mind giving possession to wait for those errors, and they are so freaking clinical with those chances, so that Argentina back line needs to play a near perfect game to stop Mbappe and Co. while their attackers need to be clinical, which they have not been. I completely agree that containing Mbappe and more so Griezmann is key.

This is the best final, on paper, in a long time. I am going for Argentina but I see a very even set of qualities on both sides. In my view, we can't argue one way or another w/ too much confidence. I think Griezmann is not getting enough credit and was able to play freely against Morocco. I think Argentina will not let that happen and can control the midfield. France when they go aggressive, they have proven to be VERY effective. Argentina is also good at converting w/ few chances, it will depend on whether or not Messi plays to his full potential. I can see Molina neutralizing MBappé but it will open up for other players to step up. Giroud always dangerous in the air. Will DiMaria play? Fernandez On penalties, Argentina has a solid history of winning but France has strong positive energy AND had had good luck through the tournament. Enzo Fernandez also playing a solid game.
