I watch only Arsenal games and the big teams when they clash, so can't really select an informed x11, but for what I've seen: Martinez, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Guardivol (due to the screamers), Rice, Odegaard, Rodri, Foden, Palmer, Watkins. Watkins had the most Goals/Assists in the PL, 33. Of that team 5 are English, then add Belingham, Kane to the mix and that's a team to win the Euro's and that's despite of the manager, not because of him.

Cole Palmer only scored 13 non-penalty goals. Great season but almost half his goal tally ( 13 goals, 9 penalty goals ) is penalty goals. That's in contrast to Haaland's 20 non-penalty goals ( 7 penalty goals ). So to pretend Haaland didn't have a great season because some of his goal tally is disingenuous.

Ask Phil Foden which player he owes a lot of his success to ? Haaland role change has helped City. Teams focus a lot and even more every trying to stop the big Norwegian This helps players like Foden get more room . Palmer or Saka would not have scored more goals than Haaland

Palmer's inclusion by all the pundits shows why these pundits would fail as managers. None of them understands or values the defensive responsibilities of all players demanded of the modern game and the importance of their ability to deliver on these responsibilities. It is like saying a goal keeper is great because he has made so many great saves in the season while ignoring the fact he has given away penalties that are scored every time the opposition had a corner because he keeps fowling opposition players when trying to deal with the corners. Great that he makes the great saves, but you will never be a top team with him if he gives away penalties that are scored every time there is a corner. Better are the goalies who make great saves, even if a few less than him because they do not give away penalties every time the opposition get a corner. This is Palmers scenario in that he may score a lot of goals, but is a defensive liability that has no interest in the defensive responsibilities of a winger, does not understand them, does not want to do them and does not understand how to balance out the offensive and defensive responsibilities as a winger. Yet despite this he is picked above all other winger by pundits and given awards and praised so much by them they forget it is them that are praising him and driving the hysteria by fans to praise him which then forces the manager to ignore his weaknesses and the fact he is a defensive liability, or at least try to find a way to play him away from the wing which took place in the last 5 games of the season Chelsea won, bringing in consistency and proving or at least supporting this defensive liability point and the reason he could not make the Man City team and was then sold. All pundits selecting Palmer as a winger is an interesting revelation about the pundits involved and their understanding of both the modern game and its demands that all 11 players deliver on their responsibilities offensively and defensively if they are to be considered quality players and at a level to play for a top team. Saka, Foden etc are a different level to Palmer because although young like him, they do participate in, understand and deliver on both their defensive and offensive responsibilities making them quality players and able to play for and deliver the demands of top teams. Palmer is not at their level or the level of other wingers in the Premier League and has a lot of important work to do to be proven as a quality winger top team managers want in their team, just as the goalie in the example who keeps giving away penalties, do not let the football ignorance of sports writers in the media, commentators or pundits fool you.
