It was a stark difference between them the the rest of the league. I always noticed it and attributed it to Phil growing up. Now I can see MJ had a lot to do with it as well in pushing them like crazy. Which resulted in them being better, more confident in themselves and each other, which in turn got them playing as a TEAM. I think either we have become so goddamn soft....or it's a case of people who have never played competitively, who will never understand what it's like in the locker room and practice, that voice their ignorant opinions. I mean he is their leader, not their friend, nor their lover. They are professionals who have to do a job, and if some players mail it in, Jordan will push you. Like any great leader. It clearly worked cause they 3peated twice. Like Will Purdue said, we saw him as the bad guy then, but as the years went by and we started winning, we saw how great of a teammate he actually was. It's tough love. Even Scott Burrell who Jordan went at the most, said MJ was a fun guy to be around off court. Kerr said that MJ punching him was great because it brought them together. Yet Jordan is an asshole apparently. Couldn't have been that he was a normal guy who just wanted his teammates to at least put in 100% effort and sometimes went far to push them. Some players like Kerr respond positively to that and some don't (Grant). But one thing that never changed, was MJ won every single time in the 90's when he started the season. Had Jordan been a super duper nice guy to his teammates 24/7, that would have never happened. At least his teammates understand. But a keyboard warrior knows better lol.

MJ set the tone and set the standard for everyone to follow. He challenged his teammates in practice to find guys who will go to war with him on the court. To build character, to not be phased in hostile Playoff environments and to not fold nor crumble under pressure. It was all to develop chemistry and a deep level of understanding of each others roles/strengths & weaknesses. A chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link, same concept can apply to a team.

This guy was a straight up gift from god for our entertainment. The greatest athlete of any sport ever, but also as charismatic as it gets. People could not get enough. So disappointing he retired at 35 and didn't keep playing. If he wanted, he could have won 10 chips in a row. I think the 2000 Kobe/Shaq duo would have brought a stop to his reign because he would have been just too old to deal with that kind of energy. But still. He no doubt could have had 10 chips.

MJ was one of the hardest practice players ever, if that could be measured but shows how much he wanted to improve and make his teammates better. Jordan knew he was the best player on the team obviously. But he also knew that he had other teammates as well to help him out. Shooters, rebounders, defensive purpose.... So him being hard on EVERYONE during practice was all about pride & standing up to him. Jordan saw it as if you can stand up to me & we battle during practice, when it's time for a real game, Jordan can rely on the bench players for however many minutes they can play so he can rest...also if you see someone weak, u gotta toughen them up to your level mentally. They toughen up mentally their skills will follow smoothly. I.E. Steve Kerr

Zedd Myster ok first of all the reason dr j played in the aba was because he would have got payed there more then the nba and the aba back then was just as if not more respected then the nba so that claim literally makes no sense. Second so your telling me if you are the best basketball player in the world you don’t want to win championships. Third so your telling me Michael jordan the most competitive man on this planet would stay on the bulls say if they didn’t hire phill Jackson, didn’t pick Scotty and trading horrance for money and didn’t make and trades to help mj you think he stays
@zeddmysterYT3 жыл бұрын
@@th0ma572 no, what I'm saying is Lebron could've worked out things with his team. You have to be a leader if you are willing to get a championship again. There's no reason that this man had to leave Cleveland just to get a ring. That is not only selfish, but defeats the purpose of being a Leader. Going to the heat was the best/worse decision that this man has made.Instead of working on yourself and the team. You decided to transfer for a ring. That's funny,but of course(like you said). He wasn't gonna waste his prime on that team.
