It's so obnoxious when national peeps talk about the JJ contract situation while clearly having not done their homework. They were extremely close the day before last season, but didn't quite come to an agreement regarding structure of it (IE: total money not an issue). Then 6+ weeks ago he said he wanted to know the plan for QB and has never been about him waiting to sign after he knows the QB. The team also benefits from waiting until post draft when they have their roster filled out and know exactly how much cap is left in 2024.

I wouldn't start him week 1.. unless Sam Darnold is injured.. Darnold is fully capable of running this offense at a mid to high level

Yeeeaahh, Jefferson still isn't going to sign unless McCarthy actually shows some some big time promise, IMO. You still have a 40% chance he can't: take an NFL hit, learn and understand the playbook, transition to pocket passer and speed, go through progressions, read defenses, or be accurate and not fumble every time he gets hit with his small hands. He's got a lot to learn.

@@michaelk8710 You just sound like a hater. All the QB prospects this draft have yet to take a “NFL hit”, adjust to NFL speed, and read NFL defenses.
