Is Shearer the greatest English striker of all time? Probably. If Kane scores 300 pl goals does that put him in the conversation for being the greatest? Absolutely it does. At the minute you'd say Rooney is held in higher esteem, although I personally think Kane is a better player than Rooney.

Kane will likely win trophies at Real Madrid, but isn’t that just ring chasing? Any donkey at Real Madrid will win trophies - what’s so great about that. It’s the same logic with Gerrard, Totti, Le Tissier etc - they decided that staying loyal to their teams was worth more than ringchasing. And guess what? That’s for the betterment of football. What’s the point of watching football when all the best players always end up at the same 10 teams?

Once he gets 300+ PL goals everyone will remember him in the history. But every year there is a new player winning UCL do you think people will remember them in long time? I really hope that's what happens. With a few trophy's in the bag he could even go back to Spurs and retain full legendary status with them so he can have the adulation that Shearer gets in Newcastle without tarnishing anything. If he goes to Manchester United or Newcastle he will still be widely loved & respected but not quite the same. Get yourself to Real Madrid Harry!

If he doesn't move to Madrid, then you really got to question his ambition and why he really got into football. At the end of the day, with all due respect, multiple ucl's and leagues are more important to your legacy and career than an all-time top goalscorer award. There aren't any players I can think of with the same ability or higher that hasn't won a trophy in their career.

Most Spurs fans would rather he left this summer than in a year! If they have 80m extra in the kitty for the new manager rather than the max 5% chance they have of getting top 4 next summer, surely that's just sensible looking after the club. Lloris about to leave also means their two biggest earners straight off the wage bill, more budget, build for the future! Fresh start for everyone.

Real Madrid are looking for a Karim Benzema replacement this summer and there's no better option in world football right now than Harry Kane. I get that he's 2nd all time in premier league scoring but why would Harry Kane pass up an opportunity to go to Real Madrid. Since he's 29 in his prime and he has a year left on his contract, and if he rejects a move to Real Madrid this summer, I don't see them getting him in the future. For any player it's special that he could potentially break the scoring record in premier league history but for the sake of his career he has to have some trophies we've been saying that in recent months, there are records to be broken, but as a football player wouldn't it also be better to have team trophies to show for it. Harry Kane has scored 30 goals in the league this season and Tottenham finished 8th, what does that tell you, Tottenham aren't heading in the right direction, Harry Kane is a world class striker who's currently playing on the wrong club and the wrong time in his career. Clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United could do with a striker like him in the team. Real Madrid really want him and he should just accept the move because in his peak scoring that many goals in a poor Tottenham team he'll benefit playing on a better team because trophies are way more important than scoring records and no one's remembered for breaking a record at the end of your career unless your name is Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, when we look back at a players' career and we wanna praise a players' greatness we'll talk about individual accolades and also the team trophies they've won. Harry Kane has 3 golden boots and loads of goals no trophies to show for it, he has scoring records but a player of that quality should be on Real Madrid winning titles especially the UEFA Champions League and he would be guaranteed champions league football every season so if I'm Harry Kane, I'm making that move to Real Madrid ASAP, good for him if he breaks scoring record, he can score 400 goals for Tottenham and yet still not get his flowers due to his lack of silverware and winning trophies will give Harry Kane more appreciation and love for how good he is.

I don’t think this is as simple as everyone is making it out to be. Modric and Kroos will be gone by the end of the year. With City around, and Barca’s league form, there is absolutely no guarantee of trophies this coming season at madrid. Moreover, how long till the rest of that team are ready to win? Camavinga, Tchouameni, Bellingham are all young players and moreso, the coach will probably change at the end of the year. There’s a lot more uncertainty than people are willing to admit.

Even Erik Lamela revived his career and won a trophy before Tottenham. I don’t get why this is being presented as an either or scenario. Kane is only 29, and he’s only 48 goals off. He could literally go for 4 years and the come back and break it. Ibra, Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Benzema and others have shown that it’s easily possible to play into your mid-late 30s these days. In fact, Ibra scored 17 goals at 34 in the PL in a bang average United side.

Nah F that, it's family first especially if you're the adult, 1 of the kids is literally not even born yet and the rest are under 6. I would love to see him sign a 2 year contact win everything and drop the mic and sold/traded back to a premier league team to get his all time scorer record. Hey guys I don’t know if you read KZfaq comments but speaking as Barça fan, I didn’t like how Messi left, it felt like the club let the greatest football player of all time down. The whole mismanagement from the Neymar Transfer saga to Luis Suarez being forced out and then it all culminating with Messi leaving in such a shameful way. I’ve heard you guy’s opinions on this for a few weeks now and I can say this move is about making sure he retires w us. That way he will teach Levy some lesson for breaking the gentleman's agreement Kane had with him but when he wanted to move to City 2 years ago levy broke it. Why is there such an agenda to get Harry Kane out of Tottenham? I'm not a Spurs fan by the way. His partner is expecting and he might or she might not want to uproot to a foreign country at the moment. He's also just a stop gap for Mbappe and there's no guarantee he could come back in two years. He's spent 7 or 8 years getting closer to this record and there's nothing wrong with him wanting to break it. There's loads of mediocre and average players with Champions League medals. There's only one Pl top goal scorer. Madrid are also in a rebuilding phase and there's no guarantee they win anything in the next couple of years. Also, we know how their fans whistled and jeered Ronaldo. Why would you want to go from an environment your loved in, into that cauldron.

Because winning trophies are more important than the record. Even without the record, kane goes down in history as one of the greatest prem strikers of all time. But without trophies, people would question the point of all those goals

His best bet is Celtic or Bayern Munich if the trophy is all that matters. Also, this idea that his record will be broken by the next guy that the pundits push is a weird one. Kane has averaged over 25 goals per season. Someone would need to eclipse that and stay in the EPL for 11+ years. How many people stay in the league that long and produce that much? I'm willing to bet everything Haaland will move on to his next conquest once his contract is up so he won't stick around to break the record.

How about another example Coutinho went to barcelona and after his flop show Liverpool never went back for him. You never know after Real move if he didn't succeed then Spurs or any top tier PL clubs will want him.

Bale was still loved by Spurs, despite after he moved to Madrid. Bale even moved to Spurs on loan too in between and was still quite good. It was the management's fault that Bale wasn't retained .

What if Postecoglou signs for Spurs and wins a cup with them in his first season at the same time Kane goes to real madrid and loses La liga to Barcelona and is knocked out of UCL by the likes of City or Bayern. Kane could have had a chance to stay and leave on a free but would have won a trophy with Spurs. He decides to leave go to Real Madrid and challenge but not win a trophy. How annoyed would you be if you were Kane?

While Madrid is the biggest club in the world historically , I think what people are missing is that it’s not the be all for every player in the world (although it is for A LOT). Sometimes the opportunity of being at home and winning there is a lot better. Obviously he is unlikely to ever win anything at spurs but I think the decision isn’t about Real Madrid or Tottenham for the rest of his career. It’s about the next 12 months and then having the freedom to join whatever club he pleases on his terms. He will still be in demand in one years time especially on a free. Even city would take him! This is actually the same decision Mbappe made. If he was available on a free now obviously Madrid would still take him given how good he is and Mbappe can still be happy he tried to win it in his hometown. I don’t think this decision is as straightforward as most people make it to be

Exactly my thoughts. Major contributors to the CL for Madrid are Modric Kroos Casemiro, Benzema and previously ronaldo… Modric Kroos and Benzema are on the way out… Kane could very well go there and win nothing with all the new young players Madrid have!
