In this future-oriented TEDx Talk, Mark Deppe explores the growing field of online gaming and how it will revolutionize the way we view competitive sports.
Working closely with student leaders, staff, faculty, and
industry partners, Mark is thrilled to lead the way for the first official eSports program at a public research institution. Recognizing the opportunity to build on UCI’s strong gaming culture and take advantage of the massive world of eSports, Mark began
developing a vision and plan for the UCI eSports program in 2015.
Since coming to UCI in 2010, Mark has been advising student
leaders and coordinating some of UCI’s largest and most successful events including coordinating six consecutive Guinness World Records. He helped create Soulstice - UCI’s premier talent show - and has taken other campus traditions to new heights.
Mark has a B.S. in psychobiology from UCLA and a MBA at Cal
State Fullerton Mihaylo College of Business and Economics. In his spare time Mark enjoys playing games with friends, spending time outside, and hanging out with his family.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at ted.com/tedx

It's certainly the easiest for any non-gamer to follow. The mission is fairly clear, and the concept is fairly straightforward since almost anyone watching has a fragment of an idea of what soldiers and gun-warfare looks like. For instance, it's a lot easier to see how someone dies in CSGO because they're simulating guns, something that we are all familiar with in this day and age. In LoL or DotA, the entire screen is a lot busier and can be overwhelming to anyone new to the game. (I'm making a project for eSports and the C-S/CSGO scene is actually one of my favorite points to go over despite not actually playing CSGO)

Lol is way better then dota, Dota caused cancer
@capt0range162

@@k_vn8397 Case and point, fortnite is the biggest game right now, and I think everyone can agree that the fast paced, instantaneous action based play style, followed by intense rage as you die to a new player who happened to hit a double pump head shot, is far more cancerous then other games in it's genre. So back to my main point "just because it's bigger, doesn't mean that it's better"
