Rancilio Stile does replace the rocky and seems to be a very solid grinder in terms of construction and grinded cofee results.

Missed all of the Option-O grinders! :) I got the Niche in March this year, and it took less than 2 weeks between when I ordered it and when it was delivered. Either I got lucky or they fixed the supply issues!

I haven't used any of them and don't know anything really about them. I only really included grinders I have some knowledge of and/or have used (other than the Weber Key and the Ceado E37Z Hero). I'd love to try one out!

On the encore it's tough, but you can play around with dose more. Overfill the basket (standard double on Silvia is 15g, so bump it up to 17) so you have more room to grind a little coarser. Good luck with it!

The Breville Smart Pro and Ranchilio are built really for drip, pour over or French press. I have a Baratza Virtuoso that I use “strictly for drip. I wouldn’t use one of these new grinders for drip and expresso. I don’t want the hassle of dialing in the grinds every time. I’m personally more of a drip/pour over person so the attention to detail is much more with expresso making. In that case getting a higher priced quality grinder would benefit expresso making a lot.

I think Niche (for the real price) is a good grinder for those that like conical burr, which is not me. I am very hesitate on the DF64 because it is made in China. The base price is insanely cheap but how many actually don't upgrade to the SSP burr when ordering brand new? I am with you on the Eureka. I also don't like that dialing mechanism but since they have so many different grinders looking the same (exterior) and color choices, many are purchasing them. My front runner upgrade for me right now is the Ceado E5P. I love the price and the specs.

Can you take these (and maybe a few others) and list them best for the money at different price points? I have one of the Breville grinders and it's treating me well so far, but I have thought about looking into other grinders, but I have a hard time justifying some of those prices, especially when I'm not sure it's going to make that big of a difference.

Honestly, for most home users I would recommend a niche zero or a DF64. There are other ones in the same bracket, but those two are the most popular and consistent in my experience. You'll get a much better espresso from that than the Breville 😉

Hello sir, im new to this coffee enthusiast and im looked up at your video the difference between grinder from manual to wpm grinder, but i dont understand the meaning of hand grinder is tend to be more accurate and "less statistic", what is statistic in coffee grinder? Is it a factor that produce a good coffee? And is uneven flavor you talking in that other video means the coffee taste not good? I dont have much money so im consider the manual grinder you use in other video ( i think its called hario if im not mistaken?) Please help me to understand what that means, thank you!
@homecafecharlie
@homecafecharlie 2 жыл бұрын
Static is a kind of electricity that happens in coffee grinders because of the friction created by fast spinning. It causes clumping and that's not good for espresso, as water will unevenly pass through clumps. Hario is a good start for pour over. Good luck on your coffee journey!

The Eureka Mignon that you mentioned here is not meant for Espresso. I would like to see how you place the Specialita or the XL instead. Yes, they look the same, but why change something that is already perfect? They are small, rather cheap (my Specialita cost less than 400 euro), and the ability to choose the level according to your budget without taking away the small footprint and style, just make it that much better.
@homecafecharlie
@homecafecharlie 2 жыл бұрын
Fair enough, they have a good grinder design, but they have like 15 models that look identical. How is anyone supposed to figure that out before they buy when marketing using the word espresso. Takes a lot of research to figure out which is which...
@galartsi
@galartsi 2 жыл бұрын
@@homecafecharlie Easily - read the name... I made the same research. It is not really that confusing. Their website is clear and shows exactly which grinder is meant for what kind of coffee making type (including pour over, prench press and espresso...). Burr size, features and so on - all super clear. Saying that the grinders "look alike and are confusing" is just a lazy way to summarize this topic. And looking at the Silenzio - this is one of the cheaper options on their arsenal. If you'd compare the XL, which is just ±600 euros and has 65mm burrs, you would not put it as anything less than A.
@jonnyleslie1
@jonnyleslie1 2 жыл бұрын
Totally subjective, but I really don't like the way they look. Having many product that look the same is a poor choice for a brand. As you have alluded to in your comment, you can easily pick the wrong one.
@nikolasdomin8718
@nikolasdomin8718 2 жыл бұрын
It's realy not super clear. Look for example on the new range: What's the difference between Stark and XL? Does Dolce Vita have the Super Low Retention like other ORO, or just the bigger burrs have it? One has to dig into each grinder parameters and check every value to find out - and still end up with two totaly identical grinder with different name.

I'll say this about the Sette, it's absolutely capable of pulling god shots on my ECM E61 with flow control and the retention is insanely low, which makes it great for single dosing as long as you respect the duty cycle, but it is loud, ugly and now over priced. Not just my opinion either, saw a side by side Sette vs Niche, barely anything in it for espresso, but for pour over, well that's a different story. Quite happy to take your decisions with a very large pinch of salt, oh that Ceado though, did you watch the specs video at all? It's not actually overpriced once you consider the craftsmanship that went into it, can pick them up second hand as well.

Nice work but would have preferred you judge the grinders objectively. Yes, company management and practices plays a role in grinder acquisition, but almost never or lets say rarely beyond that. I hate that I am a fanboy, but the niche is hands down the greatest grinding solution I can think of. The DF is excellent, but here in the states used Niches can be found for the same price as as the requisite mods cost + msrp price of brand new DF. The hype of the Niche is so very much earned.
