when you said upcoming netflix movie I thought you were talking about Nimona and got super excited cuz I also worked on that show (as a technical person not an artist). But looking at unicorn academy, yeah those characters and costumes definitely remind me of your art! They used a shader that made everything look really glossy and doll-like which I think fits with your art style pretty well, congrats on your work finally making it to the screen!

I haven't expressed this before but i feel like i should now: since i discovered your channel months ago, you've been steadily taking the place of my favourite art youtuber to watch. Like, 80% of my feed is art related but i'm at a time where most of the content isn't intriguing me anymore. I just get bored with the simple or repetitive talks or seeing the art without hearing about the process and thoughts behind it. While here, your voiceovers always have that level of deeper insights that i actually need and sought out. And til now, a video of yours has yet to fail in making me learn and think (aka deemed "boring"). I wanna thank you and let you know that i really really appreciate the content you put out. That it's well-received and of value. In comparison, while i do have a platform for my art as well, i find it difficult to share about all nitty-gritty details of it plus my mindset behind everything that exists and everything that has yet to exist. But unlike me, you have that skill and energy to get the work done and express what you feel needs to be expressed, and i find that admirable. HATS OFF! 💖🌼

Can’t go to a proper art college due to budget and time constraints but thank god the power of online tutorials is here to save me. I need to take a step back and go back to learning. You are helping me a lot.

Aaaaaaa LAST last thing, for the viewer here: if you're someone who can't buy or afford these reference packs (like for example for my case i don't use a credit card to begin with), ofc there's always pinterest and the free sites and stuff BUT! Another source that i suggest and have been relying on lately, is saving pictures of people online that share on their accounts that "lifestyle/vlog/fashion" content. I find that it feels much more organic and natural and alive when the references actually come from a real person living their real life. It has charecter and imperfections. It's especially useful to take screenshots of a vid they recorded (the exact shots that you see express the motion you want to practice) and you know, rather than practicing from the solid pics they posed for. Well i guess this tip is the same as studying movie screencaps. But yeah the content we have now of people sharing their vids has much more of a clear and focal purpose. It's just about the person doing their thing

This video came out at a perfect time! I've been thinking for the past couple of days how I could improve/get better at character design. I knew that referencing real life photos was key, but I didn't really know how to utilize them. It just felt like my visual library was lacking. I never had thought to use references this way! I did for a little bit design characters as warm ups, and they tend to be the better designed out of the cast. Thank you for this video! I'll definitely be using this technique during my next character design session!!!

I looked up Grafit Studio to take a look at their packs, and they have a few free sample ones! Looking forward to trying them out :) It can be hard to find quality references at times, so thanks for telling us about them!

I would love to watch a video (or videos) by you, talking about other character designs from anime, and comics you like, etc. I feel like that would be fun for you to make, and us to watch! Though this video was posted 2 months ago so I'm not sure if this awnser is relevant anymore haha.
