Welcome to my channel! In this video, I'll guide you through creating a comprehensive color chart using two colors plus white. This detailed workshop is a two color study and perfect for artists of all levels wanting to deepen their color mixing skills.
This became quite a long video, but it is a color study, so it cannot be otherwise. I add chapters to the video so you can jump straight to the part that interests you.
In this video, I'll show in real time how I mix the first two rows. Further on, I'll demonstrate the base mix, but mixing the colors with white and filling in the color chart will be sped up. I want to keep the video engaging and avoid it becoming too long and repetitive.
By the end of this tutorial, you'll know how to create a color chart with a wide range of beautiful, harmonious shades. This process is not only educational but also incredibly relaxing and rewarding. Let's explore the endless possibilities of color mixing together!

I love this idea. I don't have a favorite color for mixing but always go back to my chart to remember what colors I need.

Tineke wat een mooie les kleurmenging voor een regenachtige middag mooi om te zien hoe tot stand komt dat je kleur krijgt die je wilt gebruiken dank je😅en vanmorgen wilde ik je bellen of je een beetje phithalo blauw voor me had ,daar zat ik even zo om verlegen!en toen vond ik deze les ,mooi hoor. @@BettyMazereeuw Wat leuk Betty dat je de video bekeken hebt! Je kunt altijd verf bij me ophalen😊. Ultramarijn met Gebrande Omber is een combinatie die ik vaak gebruik, vaker dan Pruisisch blauw met Gebrande Omber. Met Ultramarijn en bruin kun je een mooi grijsblauw mengen, wat ik vaak in mijn schilderijen gebruik.

Excellent video. I love the book Making Color Sing by Jeanne Donnie. She has some really interesting theories on which colors are most vibrant and why.

This is the best and the most systematic method of color charts I seen. Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to go and try to make some for myself. Can you please list some of the combinations of the colors you have created.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it! Because I love muted blue and green colors, I find that Burnt Umber combined with any blue gives beautiful results. Each blue yields a different outcome. Ultramarine with Burnt Umber, Phthalo Blue with Burnt Umber, Prussian Blue (which you can mix yourself with Phthalo Blue and black - see this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oOB5Y8ljnda0XYk.htmlsi=G_PepasFfNfJmxZh , and also Burnt Sienna with these or other blue colors are combinations I really like. For a beautiful, natural muted green, I like Yellow Ochre with Ultramarine, or with any other blue. The possibilities with color mixing are endless, and you can create so many different shades depending on your taste and painting style. That's what makes color mixing so wonderful!
