Same here. I built free flight Keil Kraft gliders (Soarer Baby) which went well but a drag having to retrieve. Then control line Keil Kraft Ranger which I took to school model airplane club. Master flew it well and I crashed it. So depressed so never built another. Would love to try an r/c aircraft so watching this is fun. This quite small - do you think a larger wingspan eg 3-4 feet would give more progression ie slower

im sorry. i really dont think this should be a first plane. i deeply recommend the cheapest plane you should get is the mini aeroscout. it can fly anywhere its not big not not super small. ive been flying for many years and i still enjoy the mini scout. if you have hte money get the big scout but the small scout is good enough! regardless i loved the video!
@theoztreecrasher2647
@theoztreecrasher2647 2 ай бұрын
Sorry, but not too many people would agree with you there. The re-branded Esky EYAS (Eagles) which is sold as the Aeroscout by Horizon Hobby IS quite a good plane for pilots with some little experience. (2nd or 3rd plane.) But the Mini Aeroscout is recognized as a very poor plane for beginners - not anywhere near the same quality as the larger 1.1m plane. These are a possible choice as an absolute starter plane for beginners but are only a second choice behind the Volantex versions. (V761-4 Sport Cub 500) You would only choose this if the price was quite a bit less than the Sport Cub.

I think that's way too skittish a plane for a beginner. When I learned to fly RC, I did it with a much bigger slower and more stable trainer design and had an experienced pilot do the takeoff and landing until I'd learnt to steer it in circuits in the air, high enough up so the other pilot could take over if things got hairy, which they do very quickly on a novice flight, hahahahaha! It takes time to get the hang of piloting remote control, especially when it's coming towards you and the controls are effectively reversed. These days could probably do much of the training on a flight sim like the free windows one from FMS. The advantage of a tiny plane like this one is that it's more durable and the startup cost is low, but you need both of those and more because it's going to be crashing endlessly and require spare parts a lot so in the end it's probably cheaper to buy a proper trainer or even go to a club and ask for a few lessons before buying this little one 😀

I had my champ for about 4 mins total before a huge gust of wind just took it away never to be seen again, still have the remote and box and now I am in fear of losing another rc plane :(

If you're new to rc flying best not to fly on windy days. You need to know how to turn against the wind so the aeroplane doesn't fly away

Not exactly a great idea trying to make it take off into a cross wind.

@@cabracove Exactly! If you fly RC you have to learn to fly in wind. Very few zero wind days. Just get out and enjoy it with something that will take the odd bounce...like I expertly demonstrated in this video 🤣

What was the hurry in putting out the video? I guess what I'm trying to ask is why did you guys not wait for a calmer day? What it showed a beginner is that it is very hard to control and is going to crash over and over even though you guys are supposed to be somewhat familiar with flying RC planes.....? Imagine if that was a beginner at the controls in that kind of wind the beginner would probably never pick up another RC plane again! I personally can appreciate your honesty, but maybe you could have finished the video up another day that was calmer to show that it makes a difference what kind of wind a beginner should fly in... wasn't that the sole purpose of the video ?? Can we please get a follow-up video perhaps on a calmer day😢

I didn't hurry. I thought it flew well enough despite the conditions. Always possible to do a part 2 if and when Summer actually arrives in the UK

Well...what is the point of life we often ask ourselves. You realise after a while it is a tragic waste of time to ask and ponder such questions and we should focus more on enjoying the little time we have on this lovely planet.
