Great finds. The fabric on your gold frame is called “moire”, a textile with a wavy or watered look. It’s lovely and I’d say it’s high end.

Absolutely it’s not weird to buy second hand bedding. It can be washed and sanitized quite easily. My mom who loves thrifting got so many high quality bedding sets from yard sales. I love the frog you picked up, he is so cool. So many good finds.

You have great taste - and sometimes that means you are drawn to higher priced items. One idea I had for you is to look at local online estate auctions. I live in the Bay Area and have found amazing deals ($5 for vintage furniture) at online estate auctions. They are constantly running - sometimes several a week - and you just need to look closely at photos and be willing to drive a few miles to pick up what you've won. Thanks for your videos!

Just found your channel and adore your style and your approach to design. As far as second hand bedding, my mom always says if you can sleep on washed hotel sheets, you can sleep on washed thrifted/second hand sheets!

1st Estate sale at time stamp - 4:15, lower left corner, I have that same vintage box. It was my grandma's, it has a mirror inside and is on the antique secretary in my LR. (Sent you a photo of the secretary) I also like enamel ware, I have 3 large pots with lids in my panty, used to store food items. They don't match, each is a different color, but I don't care all yard sale finds. I really like the piece you purchased, I would have bought that. I've been searching for years for an apothecary type cabinet, something long, narrow width and lots of small drawers, for behind my desk. I check MP daily, found a couple but way too expensive or too far away. Second hand sheets - hum....didn't realize they were being sold on MP. I'm a bit skeptical of someone else's bed linens, but like you said, you can wash them, so something to consider. Another channel that I watch, she's in the process of doing her bedroom in an old house she purchased. She bought a mattress from MP. My personal opinion, not something I'd do. In Florida, I believe they're not allowed to sell used mattresses. NOTE - sent you an E-mail; photos of my antique armoire and a few other vintage pieces.

I had a hard time finding bedroom furniture too. It took me 4 months to find a what I liked. I looked online, thrift stores, online thrift stores, and even retail. I got so discouraged. I had a budget too in mind. I went to Amish wood furniture stores...it was exhausting but I finally found it and you will too.

I too was hesitant about buying second hand sheets but I would come across some really fabulous ones at the thrift stores or yard sales that were too nice to pass up. My mother said to use a white vinegar and lavender essential oil wash to soak them in overnight. And then wash the sheets like normal the next day. Vinegar not only disinfects but it’s a natural softener. And the lavender oil makes the sheets fragrant. Loved this video!

There is a new Goodwill Outlet in downtown SD. We have one in Tucson too. Last time I was there they had tons of nice rugs. People weren't buying them probably because its a pay by the pound situation. "The bins", as they are known, is not for the faint of heart and very hit or miss. Fun for the treasure hunter!

I totally went there when it just opened! I sadly did not find a thing, but i’ll have to go back. There seemed to be more of a focus on clothes and junk haha

Moiré is the fabric technique that makes the silk on that frame look wavy or iridescent. Anyway, the fabric itself is silk but by putting two pieces of silk together that have different weave spacing, you get that moiré effect.

The moire material on the frame almost looks like a guillouche enamel. Very cool, luxe but not over the top. My sister and I love old groovey sheet sets so you have to buy those second hand. Often people are selling high quality sets because they want a change and they can be just lightly used. If you like it, it saves some money and you can wash it, I say go for it.

I would absolutely buy sheets second hand if they are high quality and at an affordable price. If someone can afford to buy them directly from a shop most likely they will have been well taken care of. And a lot of people sell bedding that was for a guest room this may have been minimal if at all ever used
@livingwithlk

Also down for the thrifted sheets and linens. Most of mine are either thrifted or secondhand from Poshmark or mercari! We have some amazing bedding from parachute, piglet in bed, etc that was a steal in comparison!!

Call me a weirdo but I’ve bought second hand bed linens for years now. You can buy a disinfecting detergent from Lysol or whatever brand you want. If they’re white you can bleach them. Or you can go a more natural route, which I normally would do BUT I prefer to make sure they’re sanitized initially so I just use the chemicals the first wash. It’s personal preference and I know that many people may be wary of the chemicals. As I said, I am too but when getting second hand bedding I personally forego worrying about chemicals the first wash and just kill whatever might be on there! I also dry on the sanitize setting of my dryer the first round- or just do high heat for 30-45 mins at least or until dry. Just to be safe. 🤷🏻‍♀️ but YES on the secondhand bedding! Many times they feel so much softer as they’ve been washed already and the price of new bedding is RIDICULOUS now.
