Mike sits down with comedian, actor, and writer Esther Povitsky to discuss her special Hot For My Name. Mike has a lot of questions about the time Esther crashed her fiancee’s bachelor party in Vegas. Plus, Esther figures out Mike’s attachment style, and the differences between the LA and New York comedy scenes. All this, and jokes about adults dressed as babies, watching OnlyFans with your partner, and being outed as a comedian on the subway.

For me the weirdest part about dating in NYC was being a batista making $27k/year and matching with women on Tinder making 6 figures on 5th Ave. Got a few first dates, but those seconds were hard to come by

Mark Normand was talking to another comic, I can't remember who but this comic said "I have this great setup for a joke but no punchline". Normand said you should move to L.A. That's what NYC comics think of L.A.

Anxious is when your needs were met unpredictably so you never knew when you were going to reach out and be responded to. Avoidant is when your needs were consistently rejected so you learned that caregivers won't be there for you and you learn to do it yourself. Disorganized is when your caregiver is also a source of danger. Anxious folks have abandonment fears and need to be close to feel safe (and will tend towards codependent behavior). Avoidant have a fear of being smothered and need distance to feel safe (and will tend to bail when vulnerability is needed in a relationship). Disorganized oscillate between the two.

Esther: 34:24 I wonder if it’s not all men that have main character energy, but maybe as a kid none of your greatness - the “main character energy” you possess inside was reflected back to you by those parents/peers/people who you saw greatness in. A part of your personality, childhood or self. Eventually those people become our partners, and as young people searching for guidance, we find people who reflect that same sense of coldness back to us. Or lack of warmth, like a lack of being seen. Eventually you SEE that warm feeling in someone else, but first yourself. Idk if this will reach you Esther but i felt drawn to tell you this.

I am so old and so dumb that every time I'd see her face on a podcast or KZfaq in the past year since she's blown up i just assumed it was Michelle Trachtenberg from Pete and Pete with the arm cast every episode. K its not. Because she's obviously way too young and now I'm contemplating death and aging and youth and time.
