Andromeda and it's sister ships are becoming my favorite super yachts.

The crew cabins in the tank deck were not initially constructed. They were part of the refitting which took place some short time before the yacht was sold. In the initial plans, the specific space was a crew gym and crew sitting room with tv and game consoles.

Given a choice of a single cabin up near the focsle or the shared cabin in the centre of the ship on the tank deck - I would take the latter all day long. Mind you I have only done 34 years sea time.😉

Interesting tour of Andromeda! When I worked 12 hour night shift in mining, having a windowless room would have been very welcome, there was always a little daylight even with covered windows and it was more difficult to adjust the circadian.

I work in the offshore renewable sector as a cable lay technician, to see a yacht version of the types of vessels I work on is absolutely fantastic. This will be an incredibly capable ship that will probably be equipped with DP3 and stabilisation systems, a trip aboard this ship would be an incredible experience.... I’d trade in my 2 bunk cabin for the owners deck in a heart beat! Definitely my favourite super yacht to date. Fantastic video, I’d love to see more like this. More breakdowns due to lack of fuel would also be entertaining haha... keep up the good work, your video’s are entertaining for all the crew to watch onboard, always interesting.

I love this style of ship.

An anti roll tank is a tank that is filled with water on the highest point of the ship. The tank has perforated divisions in the tank where the water can go through from left to right. When the ship rolles the perforations in these divisions give a retarding anti roll effect on the ship. This system can be found on newer passenger and freight ships. It has been developped by the University of Leiden, Holland for MAERSK.

I am thinking that some of those larger crew cabins could be for pilots. There would be more than one pilot at a time I would believe.

There are several highlighting options even in Windows, so I assume your Mac will offer even more options to allow me to follow your tour.

These deck plan walkthroughs are my favourite kind of video that you do. Having a look at Fraser Yachts there are a decent number available. It may be a personal yacht, but the diversity of this ship makes me wonder if the owner ever charters it out for scientific ocean research? A general question I have about super yacht owners that occasionally place their yacht for charter is, what happens to the owners area when the yacht is on charter? Is the owner space off limits to everyone?

Remember this ship was designed to be some form of offshore construction vessel, so lots of offices for the various teams, supervisors , clients and offshore management plus ROV operators rooms plus workshops etc. Then a working deck.

I love looking at GAs find them so interesting to see how a vessel works and flows and give a great insight into crew areas, can’t get over the size of some of those crew cabins 😱

Quick question for the next Q&A. I'm very prone to getting seasick. How bad does it need to be on a bigger yacht before guests start to throw up? Also how long does it normally take to acclimate to being on the ocean so that seasickness isn't an issue?

I slept in the hole on a ship with out any sun light and slept like a baby, could hear the ocean waves hitting the outside of the haul. the racks were 15 high and they were pipe and canvas racks. In the service you learn to sleep anywhere.

Seems like having the emergency generator away from the other generators and engine room might be a good idea in case there is a catastrophic issue in the ER.

New to this channel. Maybe 25-30 vids in. Good stuff. Has anyone asked about desalination and fresh water usage/capability/limitations/etc. The initial answer will undoubtedly be, "Well, it depends really." So more specifically, is there a metric for water per person on board and/or surface area of the vessel? Also curious about the volume/hour, or however it is measured, of R.O.s for various size M/Y's. Keep up the good work.

sauna = dry heat, steam = wet heat, the cold plunge pool is indeed a must have for both. and a warm air room to dry your body.

Love this yacht and the video's they showed ( still on youtube too) when she was for sale are incredible. Fraser Yacht sales has a GA for the motor vessel ACE on it's web site as it's for sale. That looks incredible too, and a bit of a weird arrangement (I think) on the main deck aft. Have a look at it if you get time.

Great Video! A sauna can traditionally be either steam or dry hot air as they were heated with a wood stove and/or used wood heat to heat rocks and you could pour water over those rocks for steam. For modern recreation centers with both steam and sauna's, the sauna is typically heated electrically, so no water allowed on them as that could short them out. This results in a drier heat. The steam room is obviously pure steam as the heat source, also these days typically made electrically somewhere else, so it doesn't short out. The different types of heat hit different. I have a bad back and use them when I can, but prefer a steam room myself.

The under water line Cabins will be perfects for the night shift who wants to sleep in day In Calm and darkness

The two crew cabins by the chain locker have a queen sized bed. Could they be for married couples working as crew?

some points notes were minimally incorrect. the most forward crew cabin actual is in a deck below, on the tween deck, not on main deck. and some saloon picture is from another saloon on a deck bellow.... ahrg... who cares?.... the question is: where did the crew's gym end up?

What are the units of measurement and what is their significance? I.e. @1:19, the decks are each measured in what appears to be millimeters. However, @2:24 on the helicopter deck, we see markings "75" through "110." Those don't appear to be either meters or feet. What are they?

Everyone says there are 15 guest cabins but every time I see a deck plan or any video about it there are only 11...1 owners suite, 2 VIP’s on the boat deck and 8 on the pool deck. Where are the other 4 guest cabins? Thanks!
