I bought an m93p based on your previous video on it. It's great! It's our family TV PC. One note however. It's kinda difficult to get 4k 60Hz out of it if you don't have a DisplayPort capable TV or Monitor. You'll need two things: 1. An active DP-->HDMI adapter, and 2. A sound bar or other source of audio. When you manually crank the display resolution to 4k 60 in the advanced display settings, it will work, but you won't get audio unless you plug something in to the 3.5mm audio jack.

I've always wanted to pick up one of these Thinkcentre Tiny machines. I just bought an M73 Tiny yesterday that should be here in a few days. M73 also can have the i5 4570T just like the M93p, which is something to keep in mind for those looking at these. The deciding factor for me was the unit I got had the 8GB of RAM, and I think it has the HDD bracket too. The M93p is still tempting and I might have to grab one of those. I like that it has five USB 3 ports. It's amazing to see how inexpensive these are now compared to a few years ago, but such is the nature of tech. As cool as SBCs are, at these prices, I'd go with these used Thinkcentre Tiny machines every time for my purposes.

I just picked up the M73p - It is basically the same as the M93P. It has a i5 4570T with 8gn ram- same processor as the M93p. Pad $80 on Ebay. Installed it with windows and ppssp was really bad with God of War. I could not even get it to work on 1X. I then installed it on Batocerra and wow what a difference compared to windows. I can run God of War chains of Olympus at 2X full speed and almost every other ppssp game at 3X. Gamecube works at 3X as well. Bottom line don't even bother with Windows - just use Batoceria it's so much faster. This so so much better than the Raspberry PI not sure why more people haven't tried it out. I love this so much that I selling my Raspberry Pi on Ebay.

Nice video and I do like SFF systems for neatness. I have a couple of spare mini PC's that I'm going to tinker with soon. The better one is a HP Prodesk 405 G4 with a Ryzen 5 Pro 2400GE CPU and Vega 11 graphics... This one should be able to emulate most systems just fine. The other (weaker) PC is actually a Dell Wyse 5070 thin client with Windows 10 installed. It has a quad core Celeron J4105 processor with UHD 600 graphics. I'm guessing it will be OK for emulation up to a Dreamcast or N64? We'll see.

So this is basically an older version (Haswell) of the ThinkCentre Tiny. While it's pretty old, it can still handle your basic everyday stuff and emulation just fine. Also great for HTPC use. BTW, why do so many youtubers insist on using that Etcher bloatware when there are far more lightweight applications available for flashing disk images (Win32DiskImager, Rufus, etc).

This is very tempting. I want to wait for the RaspberryPi 5 to release (and hopefully that comes out this year even with the chip shortages) for a low power option but being able to play up to Wii would be nice. Dreamcast and PSP are the highest system I normally emulate. One question related to this "build": Would Batocera or RetroPie be a better option than Android on a system like this or a RaspberryPi? I want to run Android TV so I can stream on the device and I've put in some money ($10+) on emulators and front-end apps so if I can use those apps I'd like to if there isn't a huge performance issue.

I this exact mini pc as an HTPC. It's great but you should go into the bios and make sure it is set to performance mode. Makes a huge difference in temps and boost speed. The built-in wifi isn't easily compatible with Ubuntu so I bought a USB dongle. Also, my understanding is you can swap a few different processors in that may give you a bit more power.

Awesome video! I know you said that it isn't quite powerful enough for most PS2 games, is it a GPU bottleneck that prevents that? I actually ran some tests with this exact model, and while it probably can't run the PS2 games most people are thinking of, stuff that's more Arcade-style should be okay. Basically most side- or vertical-scrolling shoot 'em ups, a surprising amount of fighting games (2D stuff like Shin Gokuetsuji and KOF'02UM run perfectly, but all of the Tekkens seem to work as well!) and lotsa puzzle games for the PS2 will probably work fine. Basically, epic adventures are out of question, but if it's something you'd plunk quarters into at an arcade, it should be fine.

Is your arm okay? Also that looks like a ton of fun, could possibly mount it to the back of a monitor or something.

I've got an old i5 with 8GB RAM collecting dust. I've been curious about Batocera and was going to load it on one of my SBCs but what the hell...the old tower might win.

The best tutorial better a small pc or laptop than the chinese android box. Imagine an intel i7 with solid state and good ram. You can emulate basically almost everything.

I actually had an android box on order but it was cancelled so I bought an M73 with same cpu as this M93. Glad I have that instead, so much more powerful so you can emulate all the systems android boxes can struggle with easily. Not to mention higher end systems too. As long as you can find one for a decent price 😊
