We all know Discobolus, Michelangelo's Moses and the Laocoon and his Sons. These famous sculptures are like dramatic novels, capturing the figure's facial expressions or body movements, often at a gripping moment. But when you look at the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas sculptures - which are the representative work of ancient China's statuary art, you will be touched by their serenity and peace. It is quite different from western art.
In this 60 minutes episode, you will be guided into the most famous grottoes in China to explore the beauty of China's Buddhist sculptures. With a glimpse of a continuous eternity, you will sense peace and harmony.

The first university Nalanda in India where the Buddha taught will have been existing unfortunately it have been burnt down by the Islamic invasion of India ...Hopefully China will learn their history from India to stop the Islamic invasion in China especially the Pakistani, and all the Islamic countries flooding into their country

Saving Buddhism is like stopping rain to precipitate. No one will ever save Buddhism. It emerges by ones own will, whether you know Buddha or not that does not matter at all...

@AS Sohail Dawar Definitely will not happen when the world rise and they will get rid of Islam indefinitely as people want to advance in their thinking and do not want to be stuck in the 1400 years mentality unable to evolve to this date ...Why do you think Islam fear of muslim leaving the faith and have to kill them ...

@AS Sohail Dawar You must be deluded if Islam respect they wont be killing muslim men for leaving the faith and accuse muslim women for adultery with their egoistic lies from men in the Islamic world ...Have you seen Allah if not you have been lies for being a sheep and I guess your Arabic is not fluently as those from the Middle East and are leaving Islam ,,,

Hmm, well a lot of people are sentimentally moved and attached to buddha statues and art I've noticed , but if you ever sat down with them to ask them what buddhism is, what it's about, many don't have a clue. What do you mean by it is faithful? It's faithful and delivers consolatory relaxing feelings? Sure it it can and often does. It's kind of like an invitation to love. Everybody want's to get invitation's but not every one actually want's to go to the party.

It’s being said, when you paint the eyes of the Buddha on a statue, you must look in a mirror to add the eyes. This I believe depends on the degree of one’s love and respect for Buddha. Thank you for this video.

@@wentworth3255 This is why I'm so confused by the discussion in this thread. My understanding of China is that they refute older spiritual traditions in favor of systems of control (like christianity)... i'm unclear why China would be celebrating these traditions now. Haven't they been trying to erase Tibetan Buddhism for many decades?

In the millennia of time past we KNOW that there was a race of beings who inhabited our planet and who created structures that even today we cannot challenge their technology, their diversity and power. 👀Sites in the Andes, sites in India (Ellora caves, Ajanta.) so many others that we have uncovered to leave us bewildered and in disbelief as yet another discovery turns back the chronological clock even further. 👀What came after them? After whatever cataclysmic event occurred to wipe them off the face of the planet? We know from Sumerian to the Sanskrit of the Ramayana to Buddha and Buddhism. YET they took over ancient sites, hid the ancient builders work or cast it down and erected their own in its place. 👀Buddhism spread like wild fever. Statues erected by those who sought to spread their religion? Some might call idolatry an in fact the 'Bible' has Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image - (According to the psalmist and the prophet Isaiah). 'Those who worship inanimate idols will be like them, that is, unseeing, unfeeling, unable to hear the truth.'? Many religions tore down statues of Buddha. Given the size of some of those statues I would have said 'I'd like to see you try that'. 😗The teachings were spread initially NOT by the written text but by the word. Even though such interpretations were likely to have been amended along the way we still have some wholesome truths when it comes to how we live our lives. 😗Take away the idolatry and I have deep respect for Buddhism. At its core is the truth of simplicity within our lives. For our lives to have meaning and to have purpose. Working together, creates harmony, generates stability. THAT is why China has come out of the rubble into a country with its people standing on solid ground, built by the people, for the people.
