It's really fun hearing you and your boyfriend talk. Too many vloggers skip over or edit down conversations when, at least for me, the fun is in feeling like a friend who is sitting next to you, hearing people have conversations. Soul Food being a Konglish word is fascinating. In the 1960's the African American culture was commonly referred to as "soul", like how their music was known as "Soul Music". Soul Food was food from the Southern part of America, made by African Americans. It is most well known as fried chicken, grits, collard greens, BBQ, smoked meats, sweet potatoes and okra. So when you say Soul Food to Westerners (especially Americans) they will believe you are talking about food commonly made in the rural South of America. But if what you is it is food that makes you feel at home or comforted, then we call that "comfort food", as your boyfriend said. I imagine African American soldiers in South Korea called their food Soulfood and told Korean soldiers it reminded them of home and gave them comfort and so they misunderstood it to mean that and started calling food that made them feel comforted "Soulfood".
