Growing up we all wanted: A teacher like Mr.Keating A therapist like Sean Maguire A friend like Genie A nanny like Mrs.Doubtfire A father like Peter Pan and a hero like Popeye. Thank you Mr.Williams for gifting us with these amazing characters. May you rest easy.

When I first saw this movie, I *wanted* to be Robin Williams’ character. I wanted to teach English for high schoolers and be that inspirational.

I WAS a teacher for a few years. I was no Mr. Keating. But I did inspire a few students and like to think I was a good role model. I communicated very openly with them and let them know early on that I didn't take myself too seriously and never talked down to them. I enjoyed working with my students, it was the other teachers I hated.

"Seize the day, gather ye rosebuds while ye may. Why does the writer use these lines?" "Because he's in a hurry!" "No! Ding! Thank you for playing anyway!" Even in a movie as profound and touching as Dead Poets Society, there are still so many small moments of humour and Robyn Williams was able to perform both the dramatic and comedic moments so well! One of my favourite scenes in the whole movie is when Todd receives the same deskset for his birthday that his parents bought him the year before and Neil throws it over the edge of the building then says, "Don't worry, you'll get another one next year". Those small bits of humour that break up the tension in the film are a testament to excellent script writing.

Exactly! That’s what I was thinking when I watched it for the first time. It’s so refreshing to have a laugh after something melancholy happens in movies and Dead Poets Society did it perfect
@strawberrieskribbles5324
@strawberrieskribbles5324 3 жыл бұрын
Fun fact about the desk set scene, it was actually thought of by Ethan and Robert (the actors for Todd and Neil) after they filmed the scene the boys thought it was kind of silly and thought there was no way they would put it in the movie and they did! I thought it was perfectly done!

If you think about it, Robin had more sad movies or characters than we realised when he was with us. Dead Poets Society, Jumanji, Jack, Patch Adams, The Fisher King, What Dreams May Come (he loses his wife or girlfriend in these latter 3!) even Mrs Doubtfire and Hook. I struggle to watch his movies now, as I can't watch him without feeling a distinct melancholy.

Dead Poet Society is my favorite Robin William's movie. I did not watch it until 2011in my high school English class. I bought it a year later after I graduated but I had got held back when I was 19 and stayed in high school until I was 20. I was happy I watched this movie it was amazing. I watched this movie after Robin Williams died with my mom she enjoyed this movie also.

we should see death as part of life, and respect his choice. He has lived enough, and he had a terrible disease, so the life he was going to live was not good. There was a lot of pain. If he decided that, its just because he preferred not to live that, and go away with what he did live.
