With a book by Kyle Jarrow and a score by Aerosmith, Cyndi Lauper, T.I., John Legend, Sara Bareilles, and more, ''SpongeBob SquarePants'' is not a simple musical.
''SpongeBob SquarePants'' and his gang of undersea misfit pals are coming to Broadway's Palace Theatre this winter in a new musical unlike anything audiences have ever seen. Director Tina Landau has completely reimagined the animated world of Bikini Bottom for the stage, while book writer Kyle Jarrow has crafted a story that he describes as "''Armageddon'' meets ''Our Town''." As for the score? It's written by some of the most iconic musicians of this generation: Aerosmith, Cyndi Lauper, and John Legend, among them. What does it take to transform an animated television series into a Broadway musical? Landau, Jarrow, and stars including Ethan Slater and Lilli Cooper, fill us in.

Honestly the songs are better too, imo. Nothing wrong with rap but, when it's just that with only 10 minutes of a break with the King George songs, the music just started wearing me down into a monotone. And also, because it was rap, I just didn't have any emotions for any of the characters at all. I love that the songs in SpongeBob are all of a different genre so you're never bored with the same thing and some of them made me cry. Just my opinion though.

Future Girl It's part of how Broadway works. Why does spongebob have a neck? Why does Patrick have feet and a shirt on? There aren't exactly copying every little detail. It's the Broadway adaptation and and that how Broadway works. It really does give it a magical sense of theater.
