The new redesigned Tesla Model 3 Performance 2024, is downright insanity. It has supercar acceleration in Insane Mode with the everyday comfort of a family car at a fair price tag. After a month driving this EV, I'm still blown away in so many ways...but it's not without its faults. So here's my honest review of the new Model 3 Performance covering as much as possible from its upgraded handling dynamics and brutal acceleration to EV range, tech and the Performance redesign.

Hands down, the best new M3P video review out yet.

Performance car experts are saying that the new M3P makes the BMW M3 no longer the standard by which sports sedans are measured. I just took delivery my 2024 Tesla M3P. I have been a BMW owner for over 20 years and must say this car outperforms in virtually every measure. The first thing that grabs you is the superb handling - of course control is top notch and in addition the ride is amazing with its adjustable dampening it remains PLANTED in nearly every road condition. Instantaneous throttle response (no hated turbo-lag) ludicrous acceleration (0 x 60 2.9 seconds) AND it pulls hard up to 155+ mph. Around town this thing is sooo quick!! The new sports seats are unmatched and the cabin is quiet! I plug-in at home with a fill-up around $10-15. Absolute Nirvana. A BMW M3 with necessary options stickers around $90-100. My M3P was $48k with standard Stealth Grey color (qualified for $7,500 EV tax credit). There can be no doubt that Elon set out to take the Best Sports Sedan crown from BMW and succeeded hands-down IMO.

The interior build quality of the Tesla is inferior to the BMW M3 in every way. And although the new M3P Highland is a much needed upgrade over the older model, it still falls way short of BMW standards. And there are still key features missing such as a driver display and HUD, bird’s eye camera view, and the accuracy of sonic sensors for parking. All of which my 6-year old BMW has standard. Yes, Tesla is definitely cheaper, but you are also getting a lot less. And let’s face it, the battery technology is outdated. Solid state batteries are only a couple years away which offer far superior range and can full recharge in 10 minutes. I for one can wait. I just hope Tesla improves upon their interior build quality by then 😉

@Great_America bmw is a luxury brand just like Mercedes and lexus. Tesla does not portray themselves as those brands. Best bang for your buck is the model 3 performance without a doubt. Now if you are worried about interior quality and niceties than feel free to spend an extra $45k for a m3 competition xdrive.

I'm going to be picking up this or the long range in a couple of months and now I'm definitely leaning towards the performance version because it just seems like such a fun drive, hopefully the lack of stalks is something that can be gotten used to over time. Fantastic review, Andrew, thanks! I don't like the on-screen shifting, but I still really like the 2024 Model 3 Performance. I made the mistake of renting one for two days and um, well, I want to sell my 2023 Performance now and move to the '24 Performance. The only issue is that Uber Red currently does not qualify for the Federal Tax Incentive in the U.S., nor does any color but Stealth Gray. Hopefully Tesla Insurance comes to Australia soon! Really enjoyed your vid, the cinematography, the great moving shots of the car, etc. Expertly done! P.S., how do you like the headlights for night driving in the '24 vs. the last Performance car you had?

Thank you! Headlights are quite similar to my previous M3 so they're great, esepcially with the latest software update that gives us adaptive headlights. The interior cabin lighting though is WAY brighter than the previous gen, like 2-3x brighter.

The pickup experience in Toronto is also great. I'll never forget the day I picked up my brand new 2023 LR model. The car was spotless, adorned with a red bow, and came with a “Congratulations” note, which I’ve kept to this day. As I drove out with a big smile on my face, a young Asian couple noticed my excitement. They smiled warmly and graciously called out, “Congratulations!” It was a perfect moment that made the day even more special. It felt almost like a wedding day, haha!

Expectation arrival is July - August… I managed to test the red mp3 they had in Alexandria and I can’t wait because the acceleration is just pure fun, for a 5 seater. I’ve compared it to my hurucan technica and the acceleration is just too fun. Suffice to say I’m jealous you’ve had it already for a month and I’ve ordered the same spec as you so well done.

as someone coming from a 23' m3p, the biggest noticeable difference are the seats and better insulation. Acceleration wise it feels the same tbh (i had 19 in forged wheels so that may have played a part) I've timed my 0-60 times and it averages at 3.1-3.2 secs. Suspension is not as night and day difference like most reviewers are saying (lets be honest its a balanced platform it will always stay grounded in spirited driving just slap on some sway bars ur fine. its really the seats thats making huge difference "feel" wise since its actually holding you now with the new bolsters rather than being slushed side to side in the previous seats making the spirited driving feel more connected. Insulation is def what i feel thats like the night and day difference. hard to explain but the low pitch and high pitch road noises are like 50-60% less with the new m3p. everything else feels the same if there are differences it would be very tiny to the point you have to pin point.

17:45 Oil changes need to be done every 50k km (30k miles) to ensure drive units will not fail prematurely, despite what tesla says. Both drive units DO HAVE oil to be changed, and tesla is lying customers about it in order to make electric cars even more appealling. P.D. If you maintain it, it will increase its resale value for sure.

Sydney roads are decent but not perfect. The adaptive suspension helps, some pot holes are intense in sports mode, but in comfort mode potholes are absorbed decently. Overall, I'm more aware of pot holes (vs the 23 Long Range) and I try and drive around them if I can

My delivery of my M3P in Aurora, Colorado was completely the opposite. Huge lines, a chaotic mess, and took over 3 hours for me. Not a great experience at all, which seems to be a common theme. As for the car itself -- completely agree with your review points. It's a fantastic car, excellent suspension, nice interior, friends scream a little on launch, etc. BTW, the reason most of the review cars are grey in the US are due to the US federal tax credits. Any other color bumps it out of the price range to qualify for the $7500 credit (likely more, like the $5k state credit here in Colorado and $5500 Xcel energy credit). Non-grey M3P's will be rare in the US...for now at least.

@@AndrewEthanZeng In my case, it was waiting for the paperwork for the Vehicle Exchange Program in Colorado, but I had text them and called them about 5+ times prior to delivery asking them what the deal was. While there, however, there were many other people who were not waiting on the vehicle exchange program, but they were also just waiting hours for their cars to be cleaned and pulled up, paperwork done, etc. We almost all ordered pizza together while waiting haha. Lots of folks had damage to their cars and other issues as well (nothing major enough on mine). Another odd thing was that the staff refused to walk anyone through the features of their car (like how to turn off the hazards even haha). Aside from delivery being one fly in the ointment, I get why people love the cars. Maybe just a few wrinkles still to iron out for the delivery process in my state...one of the largest delivery volume states in the nation 🤦‍♂

black paint tends to show marks more. Stealth gray in the US is the only "free" paint right now but wasn't at launch, so if that's the case where you're at you could have got a white interior and then put a wrap on it of some other color not offered by Tesla that's more custom or even one of the other colors like the red and blue colors that really pop. Since getting the lowest price model also qualifies for $7500 tax credit, so it ends up being $8500 cheaper. Chinese brands have a lower price and even faster acceleration.

They have said in the past that these are 6 of the top 10 problems: - Built-in voice recognition. - Android Auto/Apple Carplay connectivity. - Bluetooth connectivity. - Touchscreen difficult to use. - Not enough power plugs/USB ports. - Navigation system outdated/inaccurate map. You can see that JD Power's survey puts a lot of emphasis on subjective criticisms that aren't necessarily reliability concerns. It's also unweighted, so something as critical as an engine failure is treated as equal to an infotainment complaint. Also, in the 2024 study, JD Power said that a contributing factor to Tesla's placement was the lack of stalks. While a valid complaint, it's a silly thing to include in a "reliability survey". If you want in actual idea of how reliable Tesla's are, Consumer Reports did a 10-year cost survey in which they asked owners how much they have paid in maintenance over the lifetime of the vehicle. Tesla had the overall lowest cost of maintenance over a 10 year period, lower than even Toyota.

@@chewthegum I work in a company where there are 10 Tesla owners, model Y, model 3 and model S. All of them are confessing to multiple build quality issues in terms of inner materials, outer materials, cooling issues, SW issues, stuck pedal gas, etc....practically all of the above official reports that I've mentioned. As far as JD Power "self-funded" firm goes....these are most likely to be influenced because they are almost always underfunded and are happy to accept briberies and are in fact prone to being bribed. Facts are that the largest benchmarking platform that has put the survey for 10 least reliable car manufacturers said it very clearly upon what their charts were comprised out of....and they were compiled out of hunderds of thousands of official car mechanic reports from all over the globe. Tesla cars are amongst 5 least reliable and 5 lowest build quality cars in the world.

Don't go confusing a Tesla for a different brand. Tesla has had battery safety sussed for a long time. Tesla outnumber other brands many times over yet fires are extremely rare.

Every 4 or 5mins an ice vehicle burns down just here in the U.S. you absolute genius! 217,000+in 2023 alone! 😀 The #1 open recall across ALL LEGACY ice oems is for the risk of FIRE even when parked right NOW effecting over 4,000,000 3-5 year old ice vehicle's in the U.S. alone. The top fatality in collisions is due to fires! Garages are detached structures because of ice vehicle fires. But keep spreading that willfully ignorant fud bud. 👍🏻
