Simply superb acting from Gretchen Franklin and June Brown as Ethel and Dot respectively. A fantastic storyline that was well deserving of the praise it received.

I think she'd had already made up her mind that she wanted to die and decided to have a proper send off. A birthday was a way of having a party with friends and family. I dunno why she lied about her age though.....
