Hi - very interesting video - lots of useful info. I am stuck on a problem. I want to run a Cat5B cable from one room to another (wall plate to wall plate) each end terminated with a Keystone 8P8C RJ45 (female to female). These are toolless connectors. One end will connect with a patch cable to an internet modem and the other end will connect to a router with a patch cable. I have tried to wire straight through and (i think) cross over. But I'm not sure about cross over. To do cross over i switched the Orange and Green pairs on one end. Not able to make a connection. Any suggestion appreciated and thanks.

How? I'm not able to find this color combination on internet. also I have CAT5e straight-through cable which has EIA/TIA 568B standard but sill works fine when connect from router to PC because according to you router and PC should connect through cross-over cable.

Hello, Great video.. can someone confirm this for me. At 4:40 and on, he talks about the 568B coding straight through. I think the depiction of the RJ45 Jack on the right hand side of the screen should actually be rotated 180 degrees. Shouldn't it look just like the one on the left? I.E, shouldn't the key part (thing that clicks in) be located facing left? In this way pins 1-8 really do match up with each other. This may be nit-picking but I'm really trying to understand this. Thanks very much.
@BrianOliver73
@BrianOliver73 2 жыл бұрын
I was seeing the same thing. The right hand RJ45 port on the switch would have the 1 & 2 receiver on the same color wire as the transmit ... so it should be at the bottom of that jack.

Dear friend, please let me know that should I use straight or crossover cable in this scenarios... 1. First router to second router second router to third router to fourth. 2. And while I connect these four routers to each other should I use regular Ethernet to Ethernet ports or Ethernet to uplink ports or uplink to uplink ports to connect all the routers. 3. i used an optical fibre internet connection given with a modem which has two Ethernet ports on the first company provided router and the rest of the three routers are TP link Wi-Fi routers. 4. Also do I have to change any settings in the router like enable or disable DHCP. I will be grateful if you could help me out on this thanks once again

Hence router to router is a similar device you can use cross cable. Yes, you can use normal port for basic configuration. If you are using routing protocols then you have to use serial port
