@@A.J.Collins I personally advise against that, and here's why: Part of the investigation will be how many shots you fired in self-defense. And this is done for several reasons... but one reason may be because a greedy attorney says you fired 100 times. So one of the ways the cops tell how many times you fired your gun is by counting how many unspent rounds are left in the gun. So: if you have a 15 round mag... and you have 10 rounds left in your mag after the self-defense shooting... then that means that you fired your gun 5 times in self-defense. So that will help to keep a greedy civil attorney from trying to say that you shot at the bad guy 15 times or whatever. I hope I articulated that correctly; and I may actually make a video on this. :)

My ex wife tried to shoot me this past year. She ended up with a life threatening wound. I was immediately arrested for a number of gun charges. They were all dropped once I explained what took place. She was arrested on 7 felonies and has been jailed since. I was arrested and jailed, because I ask for a lawyer and I would take time to figure out what happened.

It's interesting you got that the very 1st part of the video explained very well why you were treated like that assuming you didn't just assault somebody with a weapon 1. You may not have been using reasonable force what was the other guy holding if he had nothing but his hands you didn't have right to bring a weapon that could kill someone you stuck him with a deadly weapon if hit in the head it would cause a blunt force trauma ending his life

I told the cops that... So they locked me in the back of a cop car for 6 hours in 106 degree weather. They then held me without medical attention and under 24 hour supervision for suicide even though I've never been suicidal for 2 weeks before dropping everything. It took over 30 officers and an entire swat team to arrest me. They shot my cat in self defense... I sit the guy twice in the chest, once through the heart, with hst jhp and the dude was on enough drugs to run away and drive himself to the hospital where he survived...

You can do that later, if that’s what you and your attorney think you should do. 6. The only thing you should say to the police is, “I was attacked and I acted in self defense. I want to speak to my attorney.” It is crucial that you get on record with the responding officers that you acted in “self defense.” 7. “I want to speak to my attorney.” This statement should shutdown the questions coming from the police. If not, keep repeating it and/or demand to speak to a supervisor. 7.1. DO NOT invoke your constitutional right to remain silent, as this can, and most likely will, be brought up during your trial. 8. Expect to be arrested. Say nothing to nobody (except for name and DOB ) until you have spoken to your attorney. 9. DO NOT tell your story to fellow inmates. They are all snitches and even hearsay evidence will be used against you. KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT at all times about the incident until you have bonded out.

I would say it's a worthwhile trade off. Regardless of the intentions of the opponent, you are still causing significant harm or death. The repercussions of which cause stress to not only yourself and the injured party, but also the families and friends of those involved. Defending ourselves and our loved ones is necessary sometimes and an inherent right of the citizen, but we all must be held accountable for our actions, regardless of intent or consequence.

I traded my clean record for defending my life last year may 22nd I’ll never forget luckily the judge noticed I was defending myself but even then they still opted to give me a misdemeanor reckless endangerment for a round that wasn’t even from my firearm it was from the guy shooting me I’m fortunate to be here and at least the judge gave me my guns and gun rights back and didn’t strip me of them our justice system must be fixed!

i cant agree enough. I would rather get away safely than get into an avoidable shooting. Firearms are THE ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT to safe your life. I have walked away from some sketchy situations while concealed carrying.

It's a lot more simple than you're trying to make it out to be. In the same way that you need to know what to do in the event of a car crash if you plan on driving, you need to know what to do in the event of a self defense shooting if you plan to carry. If you own a controlled tool, you need to know the laws for using it.

I think that is very situationally dependent. It's always a good idea of letting the cops be able to identify you immediately as the good guy too. And typically the dispatchers will ask the caller to describe themselves anyways.

Killing in self-defense is still legally considered homicide or murder. It is simply an exception to murder laws, saying "yes, I killed someone, but I had a really good and reasonable reason for doing so." i.e., someone is trying to kill you or somebody else (depending on where you live).

What has happened in AU is a little distressing. I mean not just the abolition of most firearms but what happened during Covid. For many of us in the US, it was very discouraging to see Australians essentially terrorized by the Covid police, to a far greater extent than in most US states. It seems like a change in mentality has happened down under. I always thought Aussies were brash, bold and confident (they beat the Japanese empire back in the day), but they appeared from news reports I saw to have simply cowered in the face of the police and accepted the more ridiculous Covid restrictions imposed (sore subject). Maybe crime is not quite the problem in AU that it is in some parts of the US (mostly large, dense, urban areas, while most of the country is very safe).

@@dorianedwards8522 I'm a FF paramedic and we train with law enforcement for active shooter drills. Usually the scenario is there's a shooting, and the bad guy is still around when PD arrives. They use Simunition guns, basically fancy paintball you can fire from your service gun. The instructors decided to mix it up for one scenario and had an "off duty" officer present at the time of the shooting "neutralize" the threat prior to PD arrival. The bad guy was on the ground, handcuffed, with the _off duty officer's gun trained on him with one hand_ and his _badge raised in the other._ The arriving officers weren't told this prior to arrival, and promptly lit him up. *Moral of the story: if there's an active shooter event, you don't want to be holding a gun and **_not_** in a uniform when the cops arrive.*

Training with a firearms instructor that provides an tactical training in an environment where you are enriched with the knowledge of how to conduct yourself is priceless. They actually have plenty of them around here in CA where I live, and I plan on doing it in the near future for me and my fiancé so she could protect herself if (God forbid) something were ever to happen when I am not home and able to protect her.

Why would you say anything at all? Why would you make a statement as to your state of mind? That will be used against you! Don't answer any questions at all about the incident itself and definitely do not admit to any actions you took or what you were thinking about. Any statement about what you did or did not do or were thinking about or feeling at the time of the incident is evidence they will use against you. Just state that that other person tried to rob me or attack me and leave it at that

But the litigiousness of our society works both ways. If you find yourself on the defensive (and justified) side of a shooting incident and get arrested, you can sue back for wrongful imprisonment, malicious prosecution, etc. You can due the aggressors family in court for emotional trauma, for all the negative press you will receive, in case they try to sue you in civil court and lose resulting in countersuit, etc. because their relative forced you into that situation by their nefarious actions. Lawsuits can (and do) work both ways - the most unfortunate part is that it seems heavier credence is lent to the side that files suit first.

We are allowed to use appropriate force in Canada. Youll be charged with failure to properly secure a firearm though. They always get people with this one. The judge will say why was your firearm so accessible that you could defend yourself? Must not have been in a safe with a trigger lock on it.

Later, while drunk they came to his house at night and proceeded to terrorize him. Name calling, making threats to kill him and quickly working themselves up. They set one corner of his house on fire and while looking like they were breaking in on the other side. He shot one of them dead and then that ended the incident. He had video and audio of everything that happened. He had called the police at the beginning of the incident. They arrived a half hour after it was over. (rural setting in Canada). He felt calm by then and told the police everything that happened. He was charged with unsafe gun storage. That doesn't sound like too much when written. But someone died as a result of that. His possession of the weapon at the time he used it to kill someone was illegal. Why he shot someone is irrelevant and matters only in a separate use of force charge. The only issue for the storage charge was whether someone died as a result of illegal ready access. He was convicted and given serious jail time. If I recall correctly, his jail time was overturned on appeal. Local prosecutor, local judge, jail time some of which was served....who knows what was really going on there. Anyway, follow the advice in this video. What seems like some irrelevant detail given what happened can come back to ruin your life. ...I kept shooting until I could see he was dead.....sounds a lot different to a third party than ..... I kept shooting until he stopped pointing his weapon at me..... This, despite the fact that in the moment it might be exactly the same thing.

An unrestricted weapon, does not have to abide by those laws, like a crossbow/bow, knife, machete, sword, airgun, spear etc. The safe storages laws like trigger locks etc. don't apply there. And the only law even for transport of them, is they must not be loaded, if a loadable weapon, that's it. Doesn't even require a trigger lock. And crossbows just got a whole lot faster with the airbows like the AirJavelin and AirSabre. No strings and more like a gun, yet fall under the same rules as crossbows and airguns, no trigger lock required or safe storage.

Although I find insurance of any kind to be a scam, I do recommend having self defense insurance. I disagree that "most cops" are 2A supporters, if they truly were, they wouldn't be enforcing ridiculous gun laws. You have to worry about a civil suit also. I hope I never have to use my insurance.

Years. Not months or weeks. Even once the police are done harassing you and the prosecutor is done trying to ruin your life for defending yourself, you will will then be victimized by the family of the person who first tried to victimize you when they sue you.

Dude, just buy gun owner insurance. Its cheap, like 20 bucks a month and you have a personal lawyer on call at all times should you need to defend yourself. They pay ALL your court costs and fees, provide an expert witness and a full team for court and even go on the offensive to prevent the criminal from suing you later in civil court. Its worth it for the financial peace of mind alone.
