The Immigration Nationality and Vital Events Agency (INVEA) in Addis Ababa has updated the process and the cost for obtaining an Ethiopian origin ID card, or yellow card as it is also known.
If you are an Ethiopian living abroad or a foreigner married to an Ethiopian, you definitely want to watch this video!

17000 ETB for origin ID renewal in-person in Addis. As of Fri, 24-May. However, they refused to renew because my passport's validity has less than 6 months left. Also, bear in mind it's now done at the ICS office in front or Radisson in Kazanchis and no longer in Arat Kilo.

@@yohanaolawumi6377 Yes, they do new origin ID’s in Addis. If it’s no longer in Arada, I’m not sure of the address, but in front of the Radisson in Kazanchis shouldn’t be too hard to find.

@@frodowick3465 The process only takes about 1 week from the time you submit the application in person so an expedited process wouldn’t be necessary 😊.

Thank you so much for making new video on obtain Yellow Card🙏🙏 As i know from Addis Ababa🇪🇹 Immigration it cost 300 USD💰 apply for a new or renewal Yellow Card. As i stated it will help Disapora🇪🇹 for sure as everything has moved digital. Amazing video🙏🙏

@@princesslivingfree what I have to say after going today at the office here in Addis is do it online, the quantity of people coming from neighbors countries is amaaaaaaasaazing and the process is really slow now and burocrstic because of that, they are very patient but the quantity of people and lenguages is overwhelming their capacities as office for now

Digital services good option if you're in Europe🌍 & North America🌎 or Asian Pacific🌏 If your're Africa, then only option is to apply from Addis Ababa🇪🇹 Immigration special if your a Disapora🇪🇹 Addis Ababa🇪🇹 Immigration very busy due to high levels people applying Ethio🇪🇹 Passports. Yellow Card🇪🇹 counters should be less busy.

Super helpful! Thank you posting this. We are coming soon and we were considering doing the yellow card, but not anymore with the double cost price update :-(. Btw is it true an eVisa is no longer required? Meaning visa on arrival for USA is now back in place.

You’re welcome! Regarding the digital finger prints, I think their app scans your finger prints directly. Otherwise, you could do it in person in Addis.

Thank you for the video and the information. I can answer your question about the child origin ID stamp being in the passport for the US passport. When you renew the child's passport after 5 years they will take it for the process but will return it to you just like they do with an Adult US passport renewal. It's a bit inconvenient to have to carry 2 passports for the child, one with the origin ID stamp and also the renewed passport but that's what we did and that worked out fine. I have a couple of questions for you also, how much is the visa on arrival now? Our origin ID's expire soon and if it's possibly cheaper in Addis we may just wait to do it in person when we next go. Is there anything needed other than the expired ID to renew it?

Hi thank you so much for this information! It is very helpful. The tourist visa on arrival is $82, and it looks like immigration is only offering the 30 single entry one at this time. We haven’t renewed the yellow card yet, so I’m not sure what documentation is needed. I would come prepared with all the evidence you provided the first time.

@@princesslivingfree Sure, you're welcome. I wanted to add to of course take a pic/scan/photocopy of the child origin ID b4 renewing the passport, just in case something unexpected occurs. Thank you for the info about the visa on arrival. That makes sense about bringing all possible documentation for the ID, thanks again.

No, an origin ID card means you hold Ethiopian permanent residency status, not citizenship.

Who want pay $400 for renewal? I don’t. It is outrageous price. Let the card expire. I am not a frequent visitor so don’t worry

In India Diaspora ID cost 250💰 In Ghana Diaspora ID cost 250💰 In Ethiopia Diaspora ID cost 300💰 When apply from abroad Consular fees high reason cost 400💰 apply online Ethio Diaspora ID Card. ID card valid for 5 years.

Hmmm, I haven’t heard this, but if you contacted them and that’s what they said then I would go with that. If it turns out not to be true, they do fingerprints in the office ☺️.
