Getting Pikemen free seems like a good bonus against a knight rush. If you have a barracks up, you can make pikes, which will scare off knights, where everyone else has to make spears or wait for the upgrade while knights wreak havoc.

in fact, i watch your videos more than actually playing the game. You have a really calming voice to listen to.

The extra blast radius is a little under-appreciated. For the 3 ranged siege workshop units, the larger radius helps to deal with enemy micromovements. The increased damage for units surrounding the original-target tile kills the enemy much quicker than those made by other civs, especially if those enemy units are like arbalests or BBCs that like to hit and run.

Opposite take on the +3 LOS bonus... Town patrol costs 300F/200G and stops villager production from that town center for 40 seconds. Whereas a few outposts strategically placed can provide the same, if not better visibility than town patrol would for significantly less, and you'd have the vision benefit from dark age.

Ethiopians full upgraded onagers are deadly in tight maps, such as Black Forest. Moreover, the shotel warrior fast production is useful when enemy siege rams are destroying your castles, and the bombard cannos are specially good to the take out enemy trebuchets. I would say they're a very insteresting civilization​ due to their strong army overall and their interesting eco bonus. Their weak late cavalry is not a big problem, since in the last expansions the number and the potential of anti-cavalry units have increased. Nice video, Spirit.

AOE is great, but I think I am actually interested in how you investigate how a game works. I installed AOE after learning from you. and the Cities Skylines after you introduced it to me. Honestly, Your way of explaining is extra ordinary. I really hope you'll look into more games, may be low system requirement games, cause I dont have a high spec PC.. During a game I pushed to get to Imperial Age so that my pikes can get that instant boost in the field (I was playing against Franks with swarms of knights) and was somewhat surprised to see that my pikemen did not get upgraded. I was quite disgusted when I saw that a recent patch removed the free Halberdier upgrade, which is a big nerf for the bonus.

Great video! But I think you're understating the significance of the archer bonus during archer vs archer microing. The Ethiopians will fire their 2nd volley of arrows first, which means it widdles down their archer numbers by 1 before the enemy can even fire essentially picking off 6 enemy archers for free before the cycle restarts.

Awesome video! This is *almost* better than Saturday morning cartoons as a kid. Next, could you do a video comparing and contrasting all the unique 'throwing' units?... such as Gbeto, Throwing axemen, Mamaluke, slinger, and Arambai.

The 15% faster archer fire rate is usefull for micro, your archers will shoot before the enemy archers so you can shoot then move your archers before the enemy shoots back...

Just to point out, faster firing also means they are more responsive to commands, giving a big boost to archer micro, allowing you to spend more time having your archers dodge skirm or mango fire while keeping the pressure on. It's not quite as good as Mangudai with their faster move speed, but the effect is similar.

A funny little trick I have fun with is shotelmobiles; loading rams and siege towers with shotel warriors to get them in close to buildings. It's dumb as hell and if enemies don't notice it you can drop a dozen or so right next to a town center or a castle that might still be attacking the arrow-proof siege equipment. Works best if it's a hidden part of a bigger army, though.

I always feel so tired after watching your videos, that I have to switch to T90Offical. The way you actually study the game and teach us is amazing. You need +70 IQ or more from this. I'm only good at explaining things that I'm good at... Not gonna lie, I've been playing since I was little and I'm a teenager... I can't even understand some things because I'm apparently not that educated? I'm kidding. I tend to ramble on, but holy cow... I can't even make an explanation video without getting distracted. I honestly need to record the game before I actually do anything? A voice over sounds decent but I'm literally lost. *mutes the microphone and shouts when I kill a villager* Well, whoop-de-do! Good video man. I had no idea that LOS was capped, so I'll probably avoid getting town patrol later on with these guys from now on. Also, I would argue Korean SO is so much stronger than Ethiopians. ;)

I LOVE Ethiopians. When playing Black Forest Regicide, one of my favorite strategies is to use their resource bonus to reach Castle insanely fast, and then make Rams and Shotels to king snipe the enemy. The power spike of Shotels is up there with Teutonic Knights and War Elephants, and spitting out two or three to raid mining camps and treelines can SEVERELY hurt your enemy's economy. Once I was playing one on one against a Teuton player and I Castled up so fast I killed him while he was in Feudal so he couldn't counter my Shotels with TKs. Try this strategy just once, you'll love it. Once you get Castle blacksmith upgrades, you can kill vills without loom in two hits.

Amazing video! But i feel like you couldve mentioned that FU shotels are the only infantry/calvary unit besides elephants to 2 shot villagers.Thats huge! That makes them 50% faster then palas at killing villies while not being nearly as expensive.Just sending a few into unprotected woodlines can mean death for many villagers

Your tip about massing attacking units under the Town Center overhang or porch/veranda is very astute and something I figured out by experience decades ago. Very smart, and it can male such an attack successful and quick. It applies to any attacking unit. I don't know if any of the AI's do it!?
