Today on this 2012 Chrysler Town and Country were going to install a hidden hitch part #: 87451. This will be comparable to the draw type hitch part #: 75579. Here are a couple of measurements that will assist you in selecting accessories for your new hitch. from the center of the hitch pinhole to the outermost point of the bumper is 6 inches. From the top of the receiver tube to the ground is 11 and inches. Now lets go ahead with the installation.
Before we can install our hitch, well first need to lower the vehicle exhaust. Were going to remove the rear two most hangers and the easiest way to do this is just to remove the fasteners that hold them to the frame. With our exhaust lowered down we need to go ahead and remove the fasteners that are already in the frame. Here on the driver side we will remove the 3 rearmost fasteners. On the passenger side we will just be removing the two rearmost fasteners.
Well be reusing this hardware so you want to hang on to each one of them. With all of our fasteners removed its good time to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the hitch in place while you install your fasteners. Quick tech tip is to feed the passenger side up over the exhaust and then put the driver side up into position. Well install each one of our fasteners finger tight until we get them all in position. With all of our fasteners in place well go ahead and tighten them down.
With all of our fasteners tightened down well go ahead and torque to specifications as indicated in the instructions. Alright, with all of our fasteners torqued to specifications we can now go ahead and put in the AC line protector. With that done we can go ahead and reinstall the exhaust. And with our exhaust reinstalled that completes the installation of our hidden hitch part #: 87451 on our 2012 Chrysler Town and Country.
