In this video titled EU4 A to Z - THIS Nation Has A MISSION TREE FROM EU5 I play as The Livonian Order in Europa Universalis 4 1.34 Lions of The North. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of The Livonian Orderand I attempt to conquer all of The Baltic Sea trade node and form Livonia. So, let's see if I managed to do it! Since Lorraine was owned by France and Germany at one point, you should play until you beat up both France and Germany(HRE emperor)

Form Lotharingia, make France not exist and become HRE Emperor. Or conquer all the territory owned by Lotharingia, from the lowlands to Savoy.

Lorraine is known for being a crossroads between Germany and France, most notably as part of Alsace-Lorraine (the territory that swapped between Germany and France during Franco-Prussian War and WW1). Lorraine also starts off as a junior partner under Provence, and its rulers have intermarried with royal families all across Europe. Lorraine is also notable for being the only other tag besides Burgundy to be able to form Lotharingia, as Lorraine's name comes from the old Kingdom of Lotharingia. So your objectives for Lorraine should be: 1) Own Paris and Berlin 2) Form Lotharingia 3) Have at least 2 Junior Partners/PU subjects

Don’t think you can form Lotharinga without being Burgandy since its an mission formable. But the other goals are def possible

Lorraine is pretty much the successor region to Lothringia (it's modern German name is even Lothringen).

Couldn't you just call in Bohemia and Brandenburg in that menu and after Bohemia joined you, a day or so later call in Austria manually?

@@victornunes9845 not sure if we think about the same thing, but not so long ago he didn't know the distance modifier is recalculated after the war starts including all participants, so quite different thing

My first run in Lions of the North was LO>Livonia, with the Militarization government reform. I played it all the way to 1700, by which time I spread the Almost-Prussian-Blue Livonian color to all of Germany B) Their ideas are also amazing! A little sad you didn't do the next mission to customize your own gov reform, I'd highly recommend going back and playing through those events!

I must say I prefer more crazy/unusual goals for A to Z rather than 'conquer some stuff around the start position'. Bizzare goals leading to unique campaigns are why I started watching this series and your channel in the first place.

Pro tip: you can declare on teutons even while denmark would accept the call. If sweden's independence is supported by at least 2 nations sweden will immediately declare independence when you occupy a fort in teutonic order. This will make the Danes white peace with you

In the early days of EU4, the whole switching sides based on who you called in for a war used to happen way more often and it was such a pain in the ass. I think that's why the thresholds for it became mostly impossible outside of weird situations.

The way you'd deal with it, is... start the war with Bohemia called in, then after it starts, call in Austria.

I noticed you keep wondering what AI took in peace deals. If you mark nearby countries, as countries of interest (click a prov, rightclick their flag, and mark as interest). Itll show their peace deals on the right side, just need to click the alert to see it.

You can just start the war with Bohemia called in and then call in Austria during the war. Easy way to bypass that

When you have situation of an ennemi’s ally not joining but when you call yours they join just declare without your Allies at first and then call them later

Just so you know Hawk, in that situation with Bohemia not joining on your side if you invite Austria, you could get around that by just inviting Bohemia with the war dec, then inviting Austria a day later with call to arms. Awesome video as usual.

Man you forgot the best part. As Livonia you get to go through an event chain to build and kinda customize what government type you want. Results can vary from a state ruled by the navy to Prussian government type to merchant monarchy to mercenary state to enlightened Livonian monarchy +1 to all monarch points.

Hey, I really enjoyed the video, great one as always, but here's something which might help in the future: In situations like 9:34, you can start the war without calling in the Austrians at first and call them later via the "Call to Arms" option from diplomacy section. This way you also break the alliance between the Polish and Bohemians without currying favors!

You could've declared a war on Danzig with just Bohemia and Brandenburg. As soon as you declared you can also call in Austria and circumvent Bohemia not liking Austria.

FYI, when allied to nations that are rivaled to each other and one threatens to switch sides in a war if you bring your other ally in, you can first call the conditionally loyal ally into a war and then send a call to arms to the second ally after the war starts once your formerly conditionally loyal ally breaks their alliance with your current war enemy. That way you get the best of both worlds without having to burn favors for a break alliance request. 👍

21:48 this reminded me of when I was playing Persia and had claims in half of transoxiana and instead of them hating me they had +300 relations buff which i couldn't get rid of. So i had to lose 2 stability every time i wanted to conquer them

I'd like to see an achievement series that could work for achievements that would take too long for one video you could do 2 or 3 going for some of the more longer ones that you don't have and do it as a bit of a guide :)

The decision to form Livonia is still there because that was the old way to do it, and they didn't remove it. THe mission doesn't require you to spawn a different religion though, and doesn't need you to have admin tech 10.

Ive played Riga years (decades???) ago. It was you typical theocracy playthrough, with all it entails (Deus Vult, motherf...!). With the new mission tree for the Livonian Brothers of the Sword, i might just give them a try.

I think the Decision for Livonia is there from before the Mission tree, so it's like Prussia where usually to form it you can't be catholic, but using the New Mission trees you can form it as Catholic (though with Catholic Prussia you don't get gov reform I believe)

I accidentally posted this as a reply first. Livonia has the most wild government building missions in the game. You should play them more. I’ve always been intimidated by their position but watching you, doesn’t seem to bad.

You didn't reform? Livonia has a lot of government reforms unique to it if you took the mission after secularization of the order.

Poor red hawk, not knowing that you can call your allies into a war after you declare the war, so if any conflicting allies are messy you can just called in the ones you need to in whatever order necessary

If you have the ally who wont fight if you also call their rival to the war then just call them first. Then call Austria when the war has already started and youve already called Bohemia

Yknow once you run out of releasables and a-z you still have nation formation to go back to (break them into parts or do mini episodes, whatever works) and you could also do the a-z REJECTS where you put yourself through native american/Japanese daimyo/ generic ideas HELL
