Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Jeep Grand Cherokee 2022

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

Really impressed with the safety assist stuff, did a great job. Good on you Jeep. Just wish the car looked as muscular as it used to. Soft edges don't work on a Grand Cherokee IMO. I might change my mind if they release the SRT again lol.

Very impressive AEB system. I think the heaviest, therefore the most dangerous new cars, should have excellent AEB systems to try and stop them crashing into more vulnerable vehicles. Disappointing to see a centre airbag isn't standard at this price range though.

The advanced safety tests were great! It aced each one, why did it get such a low score? Also, where is the full frontal test?

NCAP does further deductions based on harm to the other vehicle. The Grand Cherokee lost points because its structure tends to protect its own occupants at the expense of the other vehicle's.

How does Euro’s rating system work? It got a 84% but look a lot safer than that. How come?

It depends on how the interior takes the hit, you have an 84% chance to not die in case of a car crash I'd another car is comming at you at the speed of the tested rating.

The Automatic emergency breaking doesnt seem to be working on mine. Ofcourse havent tried it as i doubt it will work. Coz even if bring the car too close to the car in front i dont get any warnings. forward collision warning seems to be not working. Its all turned on in the U connect system. Is it a known issue for Jeeo GC. Mine is GC 2023

yea i have a '21 GCL and idk if it works either. the only time remotely that i have felt something similar is driving while adaptive cruise control is on. Also, its done it when i was backing into a parking spot and it e braked due to some bushes being close.

I think it doesn’t deploy if it doesn’t sense someone in the passenger seat… because it must have it, it’s standard equipment

@santi leon you know, an option on a car is depending on the market it sells in. It may be standard in some markets and it may not. Wdym it "must" have it?

I ended up with one of these Behemoths. Was always nervous about how it would fair in a test given the results of pretty much everything else they sell! Surprised to see a half decent result for once. Also, I don't know how they got the lane keep assistance to work because it simply doesn't in mine. It's a colossal failure.

5 stars but 84 % for adult occupant …😏 still not so good for such a big car . Many people said : I take an SUV because i’m safety in it …I don’t know if a Jeep would be meet a Volvo XC 90 or something with the same size from Audi ,Mercedes or BMW ,what would be happen ?

why all the cherokees are so good in safety rating. On the other hand, those Wranglers are just like rubbish 1 star safety rating. what s a shame ..........
