+Ben Garlick The original design would not stand up too well to something like this. Intrusion into the cabin would occur earlier due to the lack of a crumple zone and little research into crash safety being conducted at the time of manufacture. Diminishing structural integrity would not be on your side either as the original one was notorious for rusting to shit. The already shambolic results of a crash would be made worse if the rust were to affect the major chassis legs. The steering wheel isn't as upright and there are no airbags, which means chest and upper abdominal injuries, and possibly a head injury. All in all, Mr Bean would really have to be the size of a bean if he is to have any survival space in an accident. Here we are now in modern times, and an accident in a Mini would not be as horrific as it would have been last century.
